During a recent visit to see family, I had the pleasure of dining at Magnet Restaurant & Bistro on the occasion of Mother’s Day, the 25th of March. Accompanied by my beloved mum, we were drawn to Magnet by its charming ambience and wonderfully curated music…coincidentally, the very kind I enjoy playing in our salon in London. It set the perfect tone for what promised to be a memorable afternoon.
The service, I must say, was a highlight. A particularly gracious lady attended to us with warmth, professionalism, and an air of quiet elegance that made us feel immediately welcome. The overall atmosphere of the place is refined yet inviting, striking that delicate balance between contemporary bistro chic and homely comfort.
However, when it comes to the culinary offering, I do believe there is still ample room for enhancement. While the food was by no means unpleasant, it did not quite meet the elevated standard suggested by the setting and service. Having travelled extensively and had the fortune of dining in some of the world’s most exceptional establishments, I must confess that my expectations are naturally high… not for extravagance, but for authenticity, depth of flavour, and a clear respect for quality ingredients.
The presentation of the dishes could benefit from more finesse and a touch more imagination… one hopes for plates that excite the eye as much as they delight the palate. With such a strong foundation in service and ambiance, the cuisine ought to rise to the occasion.
That being said, it was, overall, a lovely experience. The care and attention shown to us did not go unnoticed, and I would certainly recommend Magnet to others, especially for its hospitality and ambience.
Many thanks to the team for your kind service and for making our Mother’s Day outing a memorable one.

Read moreI would hardly associate a magnet with a top culinary experience, but then again the place is next to a very long established Dinos - the industrial recycling plant and the positve magnetism for a great food that drives-in guests, works so well in this industrial-ish part of Ljubljana thanks to the restaurants' modern, refined, suave & dark oriented interior design.
To start with, personnel is top. Welcoming, yet not 'pleasently' pushy, giving one time to unwind & soak in the interior.
Then there are dishes and the wine list which make sure this place will stick in your mind for days and weeks. The menu isn't overly crowded and I guess every starter on a menu is well matched to a main dish of choice as a balanced narrative of dishes & top notch ingredients create a superb experience.
This is my best out of the city centre culinary experience and simply wish to encourage you to experience a non cliche plates of your choice that create...
