We were really happy with the atmosphere and style of the restaurant. We had breakfast here and were given the options of a full english breakfast and a continental breakfast. We both picked the English breakfast. I personally like having few options at a restaurant so this was good. The breakfast was tasty but nothing special. We were disappointed by the service. We were at times the only guests but didn't get a lot of attention or friendliness. We were handed the check without asking for it but then no one came back to let us pay. We waited for fifteen minutes and then finally asked. Our waitress was meanwhile busy chatting at the bar with the bartender not paying attention to us at all. (Two other guests there at that point.) Think this restaurant has a lot of potential if the service becomes better. We stayed at de Hoop for 2 nights. We had one of the cottages.. really neat. Clean and beyond our expectations. Our dinners were great too. Entré was really micro... even by French standards.. :) .. waitress Mariska was great.. I really should also call out Brandon our very professional bar man who is such a good listener and understands his clients. He made us great cocktails and recommended good wines. He also knew the menu quite well and did not bluff when we asked him about the origins of the Salmon on the menu. He went and asked and told us that it was from Hermanus( to our relief). We also did a Vulture tour up the mountains with Priest. Really knowledgeable guide about nature. We rented bikes and biked about 13km to the beach. Good ride though one of us had a squeaky bike.. but greatful we vould rent one. I would certainly recommend this place to families and couples who...
