Our first time visiting, and unfortunately our last.

Atrocious Service!

It took 20 minutes just for a waiter to take our drinks order, and another 20 minutes before our coffee arrived. We then waited an additional 20 minutes for someone to take our breakfast order, after calling someone to our table to please take our order. It was almost as if they were told not to take breakfast orders as the kitchen was not coping. It was like the waiters tried their best to avoid us. Our breakfast only came 40 minutes later, which we then had to rush so that we could just get home in time to prepare for our lunch appointment.

We arrived at 9:30am and only left Knus at 11:50am, having finally eaten breakfast closer to midday. This completely ruined our lunch plans, as we had an appointment with friends at 1pm and since we only just had breakfast we couldn't really enjoy lunch.

What made the experience worse is that we had our two young children with us a 6-year-old who kept asking when breakfast would come, and a 20-month-old who lost patience after being at a restaurant for over 2 hours. I had to ask for a baby seat twice before we received one. At one point I got up to look for one myself. What was meant to be a relaxed Sunday morning treat for our children, turned into a stressful experience.

I’ve since read reviews and seen that many guests have had the same complaint about the slow service. Clearly, this is not an isolated incident. Please do not respond with the standard “thank you for your patience during peak hours.” Running a restaurant means being prepared for breakfast and lunch rushes. It is after all why people go to a restaurant ie: to either have breakfast or lunch, thus be prepared. If you can’t handle breakfast and lunch hours hire more staff or improve your systems.

It was extremely...

I recently had the absolute pleasure of hosting my baby shower at Knus Karoo Kombuis and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who went above and beyond to ensure our celebration was nothing short of perfection.

The food was simply divine! The quiche was fluffy and flavorful, the salad was fresh and crisp, and the coffee and juice were constantly replenished. Every guest raved about the delicious spread!

But what truly made our event special was the exceptional hospitality. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made us feel like family. They accommodated our every need with a smile, ensuring our special day was stress-free and enjoyable.

If you're looking for a venue to host a special celebration or simply want to enjoy a fantastic meal, look no further than Knus Karoo Kombuis! We can't wait to return and experience their outstanding service and cuisine again.

Thank you, Knus Karoo Kombuis for making our baby shower an...

As I have visited Knus Karoo Kombuis for breakfast before I was excited to return, as I really enjoyed my last experience. I am glad to say, they have only gotten better. Their menu has a good variety of dishes, with many of them featuring "Roosterkoek", which is a traditional South African bread cooked over an open fire. Again I decided to go for their "Knus Ontbyt" and a pot of their "Moerkoffie", which is a strong coffee made in a traditional South African way. Everything I tasted I enjoyed, and this same feeling was echoed by the rest of my group. Knus has also expanded since my last visit. They now have a large outdoor play area which includes a jungle gym and water features. I recommend you try and grab a table outside nearby, if you have kids, as the indoor seating options don't really have a view for supervision. I also encourage you to pack some dry clothes and towels for the kids. Overall, I once again had a good experience, and will...

What lovely spot to have breakfast or lunch.I can just hear the children laughing and playing in their children’s playarea🙌🏻🙌🏻In summer under the trees the time with slowly pass you buy and in winter the fireplace makes you feel cosy…thus the name “Knus” which means comfortable and warm.I would like to suggest different kind of music that will make it even more cosy like AfriFrans or French music. There is ample gifts to be bought and did I mention that they are expanding🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻Whatch this space…It is going to be a discovered hit😎😎

Interesting and accessible Afrikaans dishes, or Afrikaans twists on one’s you’re familiar with. I’m not usually a fan of Afrikaans ‘cooking’, with its limited repertoire and rural defaults, but Knus does an excellent job and is worth visiting. Karoo themed decor throughout and a lovely outdoor seating area complete the experience. It was surprisingly busy, with much more seating that you’d think, and is heavily frequented by the Paarl Afrikaans community. Worth a visit, whether local or tourist.
