The Kraal is not just an ordinary lunch. It's a next level experience of dining and good conversation in a wonderful relaxed environment.

The food was very well made and the service was razor sharp.

Where have you ever sat down to a meal that arrived within 5 minutes - no jokes.

The steak was made to perfection and the sharing portion is more than enough for four people.

Shaun was an excellent waiter who was attentive without doing helicopter waitering - which no one likes.

Susan was very welcoming to guests and has an engaging personality that suits this job.

The venue is suited to summer as you eat outdoors under cover, and they don't open at night unless there's a specific private event being held.

Was the experience perfect? Well, Shaun, I'm still waiting for the steak knife you promised and missed our chat about the history and symbolism of the farm Susan.

But with good food and drink, all is forgiven and the place encourages a leisurely meal with friends.

The bathrooms are neat and clean.

Only open at weekends. Essential to reserve a table as they only cook for the numbers booked in that day. Be careful to follow directions as I am guessing that many people end up in Klein Josstenberg in error, where they have a bistro, deli & picnics. Klein Joostemberg is the other side of the M1 motorway. You dine in the shaded stoop in the Kraal. Lovely country feel. You can hear Motorway traffic if you listen carefully but it does not take away from the experience It’s a set menu, served family style. Rump of beef was the main last weekend. Portions are generous. Food is fab. R485 per person for starter, main, dessert & petit four. Coffees are extra. Friendly service. We asked to taste the wines beforehand. This cost R95 per person to taste 2 whites & 2 reds. We subsequently ordered 3 bottles to accompany our lunch. It seemed a bit miserable of the management to charge for the wine tasting along with the lunch, considering we had spent over R965 on wine during the lunch. We...

We were there for a bridal shower and the food was just divine! They have shared portions / plates and gluten-free options that are delicious. We were originally planning on having the celebration in the actual sheep "kraal" outside by the restaurant, but the weather wasn't great, so they happily set our table up in their beautiful, rustic tasting room. They make use of seasonal set menus, which we loved. There was nothing we ate or drank that we didn't absolutely adore. What a special find to celebrate a special day. The service was also excellent, with accommodating staff, swift and efficient service, and friendly faces. It was such a joy! I'll definitely be...

A quaint secluded farmhouse offering a lunch set menu which is very price friendly and delicious. The springbok shanks, and roasted pork belly were to die for. Rich and flavourful. Highlight was the service from the staff, food and a cute and playful border collie which seals 5 stars from me. The owner and operator really knew her stuff, and I would definitely come back again to try their dinner menu with wine pairing.
