Great views but …

I am aware that at this time of the year service is slower at some restaurants although, I don’t see why that should be so.

Is this not expected? Either take on additional staff to cope with the increased number of people or reduce the number of tables so that you can cope.

Anyway, when we sat down for lunch at Barnacles Restaurant on Wednesday, the waitress did warn us that it would take longer than usual for the food as “the kitchen is in chaos”.

She should have told us that we would have to wait for over an hour and a half to get our food.

What we did expect after the long wait, was: A good quality meal, and To be delivered what we had ordered.

Not so.

We had ordered three portions of calamari with chips, one hake and chips, one hake with vegetables, a further three sides of vegetables and a salad.

The food arrived in dribs and drabs.

My calamari was the first to arrive. No chips and cold. I sent it back to be warmed up.

The two hakes came next. One with chips but the other was served without the vegetables.

The second calamari arrived with neither chips nor vegetables.

My calamari was brought back, this time with a side of chips.

Instead of the third calamari, my friend was presented with hake and chips which he returned.

Eventually we got most of what we ordered and told the waitress not to worry about the side dishes that had not arrived.

After all that, the food was not great, and we would have done a lot better with takeaways from one of the fast food...
