Great location, but needs a lot of TLC. Perished pull down blinds, wooden framework desperate for treatment and varnish, overgrown bushes and aging furniture amongst other things.

Their 'secret' coffee beans produced a bitter cappuccino. My breakfast roll was lekke, but the breakfast plate not so. Tomato hard to cut because it was overcooked. The bacon was somewhat bland. Mushrooms were swimming in oil and chips were cooked from frozen rather than being fresh cut. No seasoning on the tomato or mushrooms. It was also rather pricey when one considers the quality of the food and coffee.

We were the only table there, but the owner (manager?) did not come and ask us how the meal was. If he had, I would have brought these issues to his attention. Our waiter was quite efficient, but also didn't ask for feedback.

One plus, the menu was...

The food is of high standard, just delicious. Such a relaxing atmosphere and welcoming staff. The manager is very hands-on. The Reef Cafe is situated at a beautiful and peaceful location. Very central. Right in front of Reef Cafe is a beautiful walk along wooden pathways through nature reserve where you get scenic views of sandunes, nature reserve and sea. If you like to walk or hike, its awesome to walk towards the left to Mermaids Pool, a secluded little bay. Climb the staircase and walkways over the cliff to Nahoon Corner where lots if rock pools are lovely to explore at low tide. A short walk further takes you to Nahoon main beach for the best swimming and boarding. A little further on you will reach the mouth and Nahoon River to explore. Towards the right of Reef Cafe you can also explore the stunning rocky...

Lovely place. Went here with my family. The food was great, specifically the hot boi burger. The oreo milkshake was also a big hit with our family, definitely get one of thosez Their milkshakes passed our milkshake test for sure. The waitresses and greeting staff is excellent. A special thank you to Rose who gave my mother in law a beautiful and honestly delicious cheesecake on the house to make her birthday special. You guys really went the extra mile. Absolutely love the place. I would suggest sitting outside in summer though as it gets a tad hot inside. If going in winter definitely grab a seat inside. I love a rustic beachy vibe with great staff and great food and dessert, and this place has exactly that. They also have a lovey boardwalk right outside, that’s great for sea views and...

UPDATE: Below was the first time I visited the restaurant, I have since been there many more times and every time the food is amazing and staff super friendly. Recently, I witnessed whales and it just added to the magic and appeal of the restaurant for me. --- I stopped by for breakfast / brunch before heading onto the boardwalk then came back for a beverage and ordered lunch to take away. It wasn't very busy, with just one other patron both times. Bathandwa, the server, was super friendly and attentive and I had a baby dassie keeping me company as I ate my breakfast. The food is super fresh and tasty and prices are reasonable. Both times, my order came through so quickly... I will definitely be back.

A great place to enjoy a meal after exploring the boardwalks. Warm and friendly service ... when we had to pay, it was loadshedding and their card machines didn't work. They gave their banking details and let us go ... the first place we left without paying for our meal (we did pay once we got home 😌). Don't miss this place when you're close to East London - you will be surprised with the food and service!
