BUSY CORNER Imbizo Shisanyama — Restaurant in Gauteng

Probably my favourite place in Johannesburg, it speaks to my township upbringing. This amazing concept does not have a set menu. You decide what you want to eat from what is available from the wide range provided by the in-house butcher. If you have been to kwa-Mereki in Warren Park, Harare, you know what I am talking about. Obviously not a place for vegans (sorry, Mumbi) and other adherents of to herbal lifestyles (Rasta, you, too!). You take your pick from the fresh product at the butchery - varieties of beef and pork sausages, with the wors being my obvious choice. You have a variety of beef cuts, I recommend the short ribs, but you can really pick anything else. Last time I was there, the ox liver was exquisite. Obviously, the chicken was fantastic. Elsewhere it would be passed off as organic free range chicken. I cannot end without talking about the chakalaka, an amazing local sauce that does things to your taste buds your mother warned you about. You also have a choice of vegetables,.including moroko (green leafy vegetables, favoured in my part of their world, but rare in Johannesburg restaurants where you find broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and other ....., eh, enlightened "vegetables" ) and pap (fellow Zambians, ubwali, inshima, buhobe, etc). After you pick your selection, one of the serving guys will go and Barak it for you at a small token fee. Within a short time, your fantastically roasted goodies will be available for your culinary job. To top it off, the place has a very functional and well stocked bar, well appointed chairs and tables with a liberal number of TVs scattered around. If you love your money in paper and not.plastic, there is a bank of ATMs that accommodate international bank...

The first I have been at the busy corner was in 2015. And I loved every part of it. The food and the employees were very friendly. So because of that I convinced my friends that we should dine there because it was of our my friends birthday. But I was very disappointed we booked on Friday 22 April 2022 we were booking for the following day which was on the 23th of April. Upon our arrival we were shown to our table and one of th waiter gave us the menu. But he the told us that we need to pay for our bills before he serve us. We thought that was very odd for him to ask us to pay before we eat. But he then said that he is only asking us to pay before we eat because he is knocking off soon. So he has to sort it out before he knock off. So we paid and waited and soon after that he gave us the food. So we decided to order some takeways from another waitress. And our takeaways arrived in a white plastic bag. I was also surprised because I know that they also have portable packages. But we just paid for the takeaways and never complained because at least the waitress was nice enough to bring our bill only after we got our takeaways. But on our ways out we ran into the waiter the one who was supposed to knock off way back. But we just ignore him and we left. So I am definitely never going there again. Or will I ever recommend it to...

Very clean floor. Very secured and surrounded with bouncers, good. They must search customers at the gate entrance, to ensure more safety, make sure no weapons acceptable, not only to advice customers to wear masks. Toilets must put more tissues for customers or be often monitored, cant carry tissues n my money when I come to enjoy beers after buying from u. Social distance its impossible inside, but at least put sanitizers on ur tables or give 2guys responsibilities for every after 1hours round sanitize tables like as they collect empty bottles from us. foods are so great, deliciously and well braii, great chefs and brai masters 100%. Waiters must wear smile at an every hour or seconds we assistant by them, must be more polite and leave their emotions mask at home so we can be more feel at home... seems their sad and tired of us. *I enjoyed to be amongst you, no fights, no threats, was very beautiful place n nice music... at least create a platform (stage) for dancers whomever felt to entertain us do so on top of that small stage wher everyone will watch from their sit...
