Jock's is one of only a few places i can name that has a laid-back, relaxed vibe with its focus mainly on quality time with good company that rather than that of going out to impress. The same theme pulls through to its staff and menu, being extremely friendly and hearty respectively. Although it might not qualify as a fine dining experience, it does showcase the sought after South African hospitality (with just that hint of "i don't really care what other think" attitude, which is key to the unique vibe) I recommend Jock's for the times when you need just that bit of worry free downtime with your mates, whether after a long week, or just because it's what's needed.

The music selection adds to this the atmosphere, being a selection of a little bit of something to suit everyone.

Enquire about select specials as well as bookings for larger groups. Non-smokers (being one myself) who aren't particularly keen on smoke should keep in mind that this is a pub, or should enquire about seating where smoking will not be a bother.

Card Payments...

My husband took me out for lunch, unfortunately it wasn't a great lunch. We ordered the fully loaded rump. Exited to get a nice piece of steak, we had to wait 40 minutes for 2 medium steaks, and the place was empty, not like they had 50 orders. When we finally got our food the steaks where cold with two slices of rubber bacon and a smear or cheese sauce. We sent it back saying it was cold, only to get the food 10 min later now overcooked and rubbery served with the same bacon and sauce I sent it back with. The manageress came and seemed to have an attitude when we explained the situation. I am paying for the food and if it's not to my standard why must I shut my mouth and eat it. They will. Never see me again...

The place is looking a lot better but now the service is probably below average, the waiter didn't introduce himself and neglected to give us a menu when we sat down, only once we asked he brought one. The food is cheap but you're paying for the quality you get. All the sauce bottles are caked with grime and dirt and so are the tables. I'd say this is not a place you come to eat but...
