I'm not too impressed with this Mugg and Bean. I am vegetarian and requested a swap out. I wanted a hashbrown instead of an egg. The waitress tells me that M&B policy is to not allow this. I then ask for the manager, and he confirmed this.
Now I don't know about this being standard policy, as I have been to several M&B in the past, and one in particular in the South of Jhb, and I have ALWAYS been accommodated for these minor requests. I do understand that prices differ for different foods. However, a hash brown for and egg swap was a reasonable request.
I eventually ended up paying for the full meal, requested that they don't put the egg, and I ended up paying for the hash brown as an extra.
I do not have a problem paying for what I order. But this, in principle, was out of line. In my humble opinion, the egg would be the more expensive food compared to a hashbrown. Amd they could have easily stopped this out.
I personally would not come to this particular M&B again, never mind my preference for MB's healthier meals when traveling.
The presentation of their food was below average at best. The avo on toast ordered for my mom was not in line with that which I am accustomed to having at other M&Bs. The guacamole that was put on my plate also left a lot to be desired, as it looked like it could have been prepared the day before.🤮
Maybe this branch of MB needs re-training by...

Read moreIt was Mothers Day and we were dropping my husband off for his flight. It took forever for someone to come and take our order for drinks. When I wanted to order soup with our drinks I was asked if the lady could first ring the drinks. When our drinks were eventually brought, I ordered food. We waited 40 minutes for our meal which was extremely Disappointing in taste and portion sizes as it was put into take away holders as we couldn’t sit and wait any longer. We even had to say goodby to my husband sitting in Mugg and Bean and couldn’t accompany him to the gate due to the huge delay in our food. My tomato sauce which was put into a normal coffee take away cup (ridiculous for the price I pay for it) has soo many tomato skin pieces in it. My sons avo (not crushed) avo on toast was dreadful for him to eat in the car on the way home. I asked for bread for my soup with butter and instead in the car discovered a sandwich with melted cheese. Mugg & Bean OR Tambo left a horrible taste in my mouth and I really felt done in with my time and money today. Not the standard I’m used to if I compare this branch to Irene Village Mall which is...
