Go there the other morning after dropping our dog off at the vet. He was having major surgery. As we enter the waitress who's name is Patience says hello. Perhaps we didnt greet back because our minds were on having to stay with our dog while they sedated him due to his nervous nature. We sit, Patience sees us but doesn't come to serve us. Instead she goes about serving others while we wait. I had thought there would be another waiter coming or something. 10 minutes pass by, I hail her and greet her, her response was oh I greeted you already, so you want me to greet you twice. Extremely rude to us. In the service industry you are to tend to your clients. Not try to guilt trip them because we didnt greet properly. So she brings us the menus. We tell her we want take away coffees. She then begins to explain a series of things like did we want it in a take away cup and that the prices are different from drinking there and taking it away. Whatever. We just had to deal with a traumatic event with our dog, now we are being ridiculed by someone who is supposed to serve us and almost spoken down to. I would usually have said something about it but my mind was on our dog. I would rate their coffee mid-grade to low grade coffee. Acidic but strong. Service. 0 stars if I could, the waitress had brought the bill for takeaway coffees, it was 85 rand, i gave her 100 rand, we waited for 5 minutes for her to bring the change since while it was take away, but she never returned. This type of behaviour in unacceptable. If the paper doesnt have a tip value, you bring the change to the customer, to tip someone for getting you a coffee after treating the cutomer so poorly probably wont happen. To suppose that you are entitled to something and dont ask if the customer wants change is next to theft. I left it at that cause it was the last tip I would drop at such a poorly run establishment. Don't get offended and treat your customers poorly because they dont do what you expect them to do. Many people enter there after losing loved ones, jobs, and many more terrible events. Be patient and serve, this will always bring people back. The Daily was an amazing place when they first opened. Now it is not such a nice place to go. I won't be going back. Really was such a scary experience to think that someone who is paid by the customer is treated like we owe something to them. Our money is scared. We will use it as we see fit. This place will no longer get...
Read moreDaily coffee is usually a nice franchise. But this is now the second time in a row that I've had really bad coffee here. At first the regular size cappuccino I ordered was really weak and milky (you could barely taste that it was a coffee) so I asked them to please just make it a little stronger. And then when it returned, it was blistering hot and extremely bitter and acidic. I just wanted a normal cappuccino like I have every where else. Needless to say, they charged me for the extra shot of espresso. I paid but threw the coffee away because it was totally undrinkable. It's sad but this is the second time I've paid for coffee here that I couldn't enjoy. Also the spinach and feta quiche was tasty but rediculously oily. The chips were nice though. I wish they could fix...
Read moreWent for a quick coffee. I had the latte and my friend a red cappuccino. Very nice vibe and good quality drinks. Service was friendly and efficient.
Had breakfast here a year ago and really enjoyed it, I’m sure that would still be the case this year.
Will return sometime!
edit in response: we waited some time to be able to ask for the bill. But since this is a coffee shop and people usually sit and chat for hours I don't blame the waitress for not checking with us directly after our drinks if we wanted the bill. I actually think it was good service, since its always bad if a waiter bothers you for the bill right after you finished...
