Whisk Café — Restaurant in Gauteng

We visited Whisk on the 17 th May 2025 At first when we got there, there was only 2 waiters to serve clients. We noticed police sitting at a table.asking for paperwork etc to the managers. We had our food with lots of frustration since we had to ask the waiter 2 to 3 times for things we ordered. The manager actually came to us and apologised for this because they were short of staff. After the police left we noticed that a lot of staff all of a sudden appeared. That is not the only problem and suspicious thing about this whole experience. At 00:31 on 18th May I got a message to say there is fraudulant transaction on my credit card. I immediately looked at the amount and noticed that I did not purchase anything for that amount and indicated that it is fraudulant. Thinking back when we wanted to pay at Whisk the manager brought 1 card machine to us and we tried to pay but then the transaction according to her did not wanted to go through and she had to go and fetch another card machine which let the transactions go through. Thinking back we had to enter the pin in both machines. This is the only place I tried to purchase something with my credit card where there was a "problem" and where we had to enter the pin twice. Such a disappointment when I visited whisk cafe. It is such a lovely restaurant, but the whole experience is spoiled by the fact that they don't stick to smoking laws. The law clearly states: "Any smoking area must be physically isolated and separated from the rest of the public space. This means it must be enclosed and the smoky air vented to the outside." They allow people to smoke on the covered patio with open ventilation to the rest of the restaurant. This means the smoking is smelled all over the restaurant. My whole experience was tainted by the stench of smoking all over the restaurant. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast. T atmosphere is outstanding! We were welcomed outside the restaurant, despite of the cold! My omelette was delicious and everything was perfect. The manager visited me three times to make sure that the chicken liver filling was to my taste. She is a lady expressing style and finesse. The Restaurant is lovely decorated. All staff members are outstanding people who are friendly and kind. I couldn't miss the one one waiter who assisted an old lady to cut her food and take care of her with patience and love.
