We went out for my birthday lunch and decided to try Whisk Wine Bar. We were not disappointed. We sat in the family area near the back kids play area. The outdoor atmosphere was great with the kids laughing and shouting in the play areas and ducks and chickens wandering around. It lent the day a very fun festive air.
The wait staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. They moved tables around to accommodate us and our server knew her menu and was able to make some good recommendations.
The food was excellent. We had the Arancini Mushroom, Fried Halloumi and Fire Poppers for starters and they were well prepared and tasted fantastic.
Mains were a rump steak, ribs, bacon and mushroom pasta, a fungi pasta with added shrimp and a kiddies chicken strip. Again these were terrific. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The rump steak was ordered medium rare and it was perfectly pink on the inside and cut like butter, the ribs were falling off the bone and the fettucini had just the right bite to it.
The desserts were a perfect finish to the meal. The brownie, melkos brule, waffle and ice cream were brilliant but there was one minor disappointment. The pancakes promised strawberry coulis but was served with cut strawberries. I think the coulis would have been better but it was tasty and a really minor issue considering the quality of the rest of the meal.
I will definitely be back and will be recommending Whisk Wine Bar to my...

We spent the youth day public holiday at Whisk with our young children. The kids played in one of the three play areas that feature jungle gym seesaw. The other areas were for younger children and a more private area that can probably be booked for functions like birthday parties.
The restaurant has a great selection of commercial and craft beers including Lefe and ice cold Guinness from the tap 🍺👍🍻
The menu has good variety of dishes with platter and sharing options for larger groups. Moderately priced but value for money in terms of presentation and portions.
Service was in line with expectations, staff were friendly, professional and efficient.
We sat outside with the kids but from what I could gather the inside areas looked cozy for a more romantic meal and would be very well suited for casual business meetings or remote working space 💻 during the day.
Whisk is definitely a setting that I can recommend and we would visit again...
Read moreIf you just there to keep the kids entertained it’s great. Nice play area, and pond, good kid friendly place. The one thing they could do is have someone watching the kids that’s always a plus… (as there’s not enough space to have too many adults at the play area) However food is average, nothing to rave about, I think restaurants like this with such big menus tend to serve just average food. Sometimes it’s better to have fewer options but do them well. All day breakfasts is also something to think about. The drinks were good which is a plus. Waiters seem preoccupied and not very friendly or knowledgable however there is a few hosts/hostesses that keep checking up on you…. Another factor is if it’s windy and you seated outside, there’s a lot of sand from the kids area that blows around and lots of tree leaves that get into your table/food, but luckily Gauteng wind isn’t...
