We recently visited Wondermill, and while the location has great potential and the food looked absolutely delicious, my experience was unfortunately ruined by an unacceptable situation.

The staff’s children were throwing mud and clumps of dirt at customers, which was not only disrespectful but completely unacceptable. When I raised the matter with the parents—who appeared to be staff members—they were visibly intoxicated and showed no concern for addressing the behavior. This lack of responsibility only worsened the situation.

This kind of unprofessional conduct left me feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed. It’s a shame because the place has so much to offer, but this incident will make me think a hundred times before recommending it to anyone or visiting again myself.

Stopped by Wondermil Smokehouse on a recent bike outride and had an unforgettable experience. As I arrived, the guard at the gate pointed me toward parking under the massive wing of the Empress of Suva—a full-sized airplane—which immediately set the tone for something special.

The smoked Wagyu brisket was next-level—rich, tender, and absolutely packed with flavor. The setting is just as memorable, filled with old military vehicles and memorabilia. As someone who finds SADF history interesting, it was a fascinating place to explore.

The owners were incredibly welcoming and clearly passionate about what they do. They genuinely wanted me to enjoy not just the food, but the whole scene and atmosphere—and I really did.
