Augusta — Restaurant in George

What started as a last-minute dinner idea turned into the coziest little outing with my boyfriend and his younger brother. We found this diner just 4 minutes from where we were staying - which was a major win!!🏆

Sticking to tradition, his brother and I kicked things off with our usual hot chocolate. R40 a cup, and honestly worth every cent. It came out piping hot, super rich in that choc flavour you know - he took one sip and just went, “This is great!” Same, dude. Same.

My boyfriend had his usual Hunters Gold cider (R35), icy cold straight from the bottle. I spotted Castle Light draught on the menu - R40 for 500ml, R30 for 300ml - and mentally bookmarked that for next time lol.

Food-wise, we split two pizzas: The Wildside pizza with bacon, avo & feta for R170 and the Hawaiian pizza with that good ol’ ham and pineapple combo for R140.

They’ve also got extra toppings if you’re feeling extra - between R18 and R28. Both pizzas were solid: loaded with flavor, super fresh, and had that dreamy crispy thin base.

Shoutout to our waitress - super chilled, friendly, and just on it. She really added to the laid-back vibe of the place.

Overall, Augusta was the perfect spot for a no-fuss, feel-good dinner. Definitely going back - and next round, that Castle Light is mine.

I rarely give low ratings. I really do seek to try to find the positive, even in circumstances that is notable to be temporary. My group and I did not get invited here. We were told we could order a pizza but only as takeaway. We sat down to have a beer and although the cashier/waitress was kind, the supervisor/owner seemed quite upset believing that what my group might be smoking, was marijuana. He said it was illegal (it is not) and although he has the right to ask anyone not to do something he doesn't want on his property, the way you ask is important. Kindness goes a long way. From then on, he monitored us and even when we amicably said goodbye and thank-you, he did not lift his head or say anything. It's a nice setting there, and the pizza was ok, but not worth going back again for that kind of treatment. We had to eat the pizza off his property, so we did so on the edge of the parking lot, standing, eating...

Small and cozy. Nice view of Wilderness from the outside sitting area. Friendly service and the kids enjoyed their chicken burgers. The amount of food was decent never seen a burger and chips come with a side plate of salad. It is on busy intersection however. I do think the prices was steep most dishes are over R180, probably because it is close to luxury beach houses in Kleinkrantz.
