Thought I would take my lady out for a treat... heard nothing but good things about this place... arrived mid morning ish...with Pete the Greek playing some good tunes... place was at 50-60% capacity... lots of empty spaces... got greeted rather rudely by a young lady at the door with "do you have a booking" along with a portion of attitude when we said 'no. .can we sit on one of those benches? ' to which she replied 'everythings booked' and we were waved like peasants to a rather forelorn, ustable/skew table and chairs on the lawn right next the "wait to be seated" 'hostess'.... which we graciously took.. . Pete the Greek waved... at least someone was friendly... a few minutes later another couple arrived.. also no booking... and then all of the sudden the place we wanted to sit was suddenly available ( we were close enough to hear the conversation ) all the while I think every single Waitron and the hostess passed us by as if we didn't exist... I rolled a cigarette... smoked it... no ashtray... last couple got menus ... service... drinks... after about 15 minutes of no recognition by a single staff member or even an offer of a menu. . We decided our money would be better spent elsewhere... we got up and left.. worst experience/service I have EVER encountered in plett in 13 years... and...

Not worth your garden route list...

The good: Gluten free bases. Outdoor entertainment. Some of my group liked their pizza.

The bad: Their online menu is out of date, so expect to pay 30%+ more than what is listed there. Only toppings they think are "authentically Italian". Ordered a chicken dish and expecting freshly cooked chicken for their EXPENSIVE prices? Too bad, you can have processed, pre-cooked chicken slices full of preservatives. The Pollo sandwich had cheaply processed chicken and sloppy tomato for the price of a full pizza! Mayonnaise used is not tangy mayo, but an off-brand which is just salty cream. Some people don't care about this, their opinions on anything culinary are worthless. Olives on pizza were old supply, I know this as I used to work in an olive tasting room at Morgenster Estate. Why can't we have fresh olives?

If you don't mind being ripped off for above average pizza with low quality ingredients and you're desperate for an outdoor place with a playground, then this will do. Otherwise, I suggest you...

Ice Dream World is an absolute delight! Set in a serene rural environment, this charming family-run business offers a truly authentic experience. The selection is fantastic—from delicious burrata and ricotta to a variety of other cheeses and homemade pasta sauces that are bursting with flavor.

The pizzas here are nothing short of perfection, and the gelato, with its unsurpassed variety of flavors, is a treat not to be missed. What really makes Ice Dream World special is the hands-on involvement of the family members; you see them ringing up sales, clearing tables, and serving with genuine care.

The pastoral setting adds to the charm—loving the sight of chickens roaming freely on lush, green grass creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel at home. I can't wait to return for another taste of this wonderful slice of...

A superlative experience both palpable and especially gustatory made of the highest quality materials expertly processed with passion, artisanal method and the right timing that would yet make a highly positive difference firstly in Italy. Being able to experience it at such a distance here is exceptional and unique. The dough for pizzas and panuozzi is made from scratch the night before, left to rise overnight, the next day you enjoy it also in the form of a crust so delicious you would go crazy and eat another one right away. Ice cream is also made from milk milked in the barn every morning, it is the only ice cream that must be eaten or licked while sitting down to be concentrated and fully enjoy its indescribable taste. All this in a family context that pampers … you can't help but fall in love with it.

We have driven past Ice Dream Land on numerous occasions, but this time we stopped to have lunch. I am so pleased we did! The setting is lovely, the service fantastic and the food exceptional. The owners daughter explained the menu items in detail and spent time sharing the family history. There is a play area for children We ordered a variety of items off the menu to share. Everything was fresh and delicious. We ended off with a beautiful tiramisu and lemon sorbet ice cream and a visit to the small deli. Some of the mozzarella had to come home with us! One of our group commented that it's the best food she's tasted (and she's traveled extensively). Definitely on our list of go to places frim now on. Closed in May and June each year and booking in season is recommended (specifically Sundays).

If you want an elevated pizza experience beyond what you think you know of "good pizza" then you need to come here. The Mozzarella and the Gelato were still inside the cow this morning. The spicy chilli paste is full of the flavours of the peppers and other ingredients. You can taste how particular they've been with the type of wood they use in the oven. The balsamic vinegar is the legit stuff from Modena. Tomorrow's pizza dough's eggs haven't been laid yet and the fresh produce of African soil combined with the Heart of Mother Italy creates a portal to an incredibly special gastronomic experience, built on the authenticity of home-grown, home-made principles of living that is unfakeable. You bless yourself, and your people, when you visit here.
