The best breakfast/ brunch/ lunch spot in Knysna!

The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive without hovering over you. They've got a small menu, but that means they put their heart and soul into every dish served. There are a large number of vegan options on the menu which are so delicious that anyone will find them appealing. Had the beef burger with chips as one of our mains - the burger patty was loaded with flavour and cooked to perfection and the chips were crispy in the outside, but soft and creamy on the inside. The other main was the carb free vegan burger bowl with added avo - the flavour combinations were absolutely sublime! We had a scoop of Amarula flavoured gelato from their new (Dec 2021) range for dessert, which is SO good that it's worth another visit just for that! We rounded off our meal with a cup of their renowned coffee - a cappuccino - and we can assure you that the hype is completely justified.

There is a lovely outdoor play area for the kids. You can also take your dog with, on a lead, if you're planning on sitting in the grassy area. There is even a dog treat listed on the menu!

A word of caution - take note of their very specific trading hours, which are not the normal restaurant hours. There is also a quaint foodie/ gift shop and a variety of baked deli goods available for take away too.

All round one of the most pleasant dining experiences...

The service was SHOCKING! The food less than mediocre. I had to order 3x as each time upon placing my order the waiter informed me one of the ingredients were out of stock for that meal. This should have just mentioned at the outset. My food – a toasted sandwich in the end – then took almost 30 minutes to come and the waiter didn’t come past once to let us know what was going on. Upon bringing my meal he asked my partner whether he had ordered a salad or chips with his meal because he’d forgotten. This was alarming given we had already waited so long. Another 20 minutes later his meal arrived by which time I had long finished mine. Again it was impossible to flag down anyone to find out what was going on and I had to go in search of a manager. My partner had a burger which was dripping in sweet barbecue sauce. Very frustrating &...

Me and my my partner both locals wanted to have lunch at Oak Leaf today. It it’s a nice venue and we had a nice table. Unfortunately, everything was exceptionally slow. We ordered two simple dishes at 1157am and food arrived at 1255pm. Twenty minutes earlier one of the staff told us that the food would arrive shortly. We were kept waiting and waiting and waiting. When the food finally arrived we sent it back as we were no longer in the mood. We gave our feedback to the owner and she pretended that it was perfectly normal this time of the year to wait for a meal for an hour. We don’t think so. We left and went to a different restaurant where the service was far better. Owner seems not to care. For this place to last, things really...

Stopped here for a very late brunch with friends. We arrived just ten minutes before the menu was to switch from breakfast to lunch (at 11:30am). I’m so glad we made it because oh boy is their french toast out of this world! Some places are completely lame and think dipping any old bread into egg and milk qualifies as french toast. But at the Oak Leaf, they’re not serving you some lame bread. This is the real deal - perfectly soaked in egg and topped with the right amount of perfectly crisp bacon, syrup and a delightful mix of fresh fruits. I’m sure everything on their menu is great, but I’d just order a few plates of this french toast if I were you.

A taste explosion treat! Nestled in a quiet location the perfect place to have a meeting or to catch up with a friend, or just to bring a book and read. Outside and inside seating, each with a different ambience. The mushroom mains was completely vegetarian and probably the best veg dish I ever had. Zae cooks the meat and that Steak Sandwich was done to perfection. I couldn't fault it! They even split the food for us in half because we wanted to try different food options. And the service is on point. John was always helpful and friendly. A memorable experience indeed.
