This is the only review I have ever done in my life... we had a beautiful bridal tea party booked at Bonna Terra restaurant today 13/07/2019
the food and venue is great, however the problem I had with the restaurant was : 1.They got orders wrong for one of the orders a banana and caramel pancakes. and had received banana and caramel waffles. We had to order drinks twice before they arrived as they forgot the order. The manager Bruce was very rude and I personally dont think he should be in the work position he is in ( not a great impression for us first time patrons. , I got most upset when the man had said to me how disgusting our table was because we had not giving a big enough tip to his staff, which as we figured out one lady had forgotten to pay , we then went and payed for the meal which wasn't payed for. and he said it is still not enough a tip for his staff. I was so shocked and taken aback by his attitude towards us.I asked him how much extra he expected us to pay and he started telling me he was disgusted, so I said heres an extra R50 from my own pocket .....As we were leaving I saw he was telling my mom that she must take her business card back as he doesnt want us there . ? I then got highly offended by his attitude + nasty manner . he then told me to shut up when I wanted to know what there was we could do to make him happy ., that was when I just walked away. I am a 27year old lady, who did not need to be spoken to in that manner. As a patron of that restaurant I've never been insaulted like he had done to me for at least 20mins while we were taking pictures in the garden before leaving the restaurant. I have never in my life felt more verbally abused, I have also never met a such rude man . that we were not good enough people because we didn't leave a R200 tip for the staff that had served us l felt was insulting and extremely rude. It wasn't that we didn't want to pay the money that he required. Very dissatisfied with everything.
Further recommendations will not come from me. As a lady who was accommodated with many highly recommend business people I am totally...
Read moreToday my family and I had the WORST experience at Bona Terra Café.
Our party of 11 had a reservation for 11:30 and when we arrived, we were seated and then told by a very rude waitress (whose name I shall not mention, as I do not wish for her to lose her job) that the restaurant had no electricity and that there were a few things they could not make. A few things turned into almost the entire menu (no pizzas, no sandwiches, no fish, no kids mac and cheese, no breakfast). Nevertheless, we were already here and ordered what we could. The waitress spoke to all of us very rudely when taking our orders and was very impatient with us, yet it was not our fault that whatever we asked for, she rudely said "we can't make that."
We ordered the kids meals first along with our drinks and when it eventually arrived most of them were lukewarm and some even cold. Most of the mugs that our drinks came in were chipped, and the kids chips were ice cold as though it had been sitting out for hours.
We then placed our food orders...
While waiting we noticed that the tables around us, who came after us were receiving their orders of items we were told could not be made (pizza, toasted sandwiches and fish). When I queried with the waitress if the electricity was back and if we could now order pizzas and toasted sandwiches she rudely mumbled under her breath and raised her hand as if to say "no".
After waiting for an hour and 20 mins our food had still not arrived, and in that time we had not even seen our waitress once. She never came to check on us, or even update us on the delay with our meals.
It was at this point, my family and I decided to leave. Mother's day had been ruined for our mothers.
While some may argue that they were having a bad day, and didn't have electricity etc. It is important to remember that the way you treat your customers on your bad days determines if they come back on a good day. My family and I will definitely not be coming back to Bona Terra. I will definitely not he recommending...
Read moreI will break my Bona Terra Cafe experience into sections :
The venue
Is absolutely breathtaking, they were short of nothing from deco, to seating arrangements, to colour co-ordination. Everything inside resembled the nature outside, which I found to be outstanding. The bonus had to be the simplicity. I loved it.
The staff
Both my boyfriend and I were pleased to have met two genuine souls who accommodated us as though Bona Terra Cafe was their home. Joe (deals with beverages) and Antonio (The floor manager). We were welcomed with pure warm hearts from two individuals who are clearly passionate about their work.
The Menu
Is in dire need of variation...add steak, ribs, oxtail, pasta, roasted chicken served on a bed of mash etc. Add hearty meals that will accompany the wine served. Options for customers that want to wine and dine as well as appreciate the magnificent view. (Presentation is key with such meals) serve us meals that make us salivate just at the sight of them even though we will indulge them eventually.
The food I was served
We ordered the most simplest meals but the quality and presentation of both meals was appalling. Expecting a very woody ,tantalizing, out of this world slice of pizza. I was served cardboard instead, what bothered me to the core was how tasteless it was. Out of hunger I ate but I then stopped out of frustration. Bare in mind that even with a killer view, the meals have to be of the same standard.
Tips
We suggested that the Cafe gets a diary where customers can share their experience about the place and then whatever concern keeps coming up / repeated by different customers should be dealt with... At the end of the day the Cafe is a beautiful place and being the God fearing woman I am, in your restaurant there is no way I can ever question if there is a God. With such lush beauty...
