What a little Gem hidden in White River near the Baghdad center. Magnolia has old world charm, tasty meals, and delicious cocktails. The atmosphere is everything you would want for a romantic night out. The manager and waitress were very accommodating, polite and friendly and we dident feel rushed to get in and get out. The service is what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. Try the 3 hour slow roasted lamp shank in a rich gravy served with mash, roasted carrots and caramelized onions and The chicken espetada with shoestring fries and lime dressing, we also had a well made Pina Colada and a very boozy Cosmopolitan. Dessert looked delicious but the main meals were so filling. Ask about the specials, Magnolia is definitely well known for their seafood selection and they have a full spread of sushi on offer. I don't recommend this as a place to take children and would say the few children that were there slightly ruined it for the adults trying to have a lovely evening. Will definitely...

Main meal was a mess....shortage of plates, veg and starch were "ok" but the meat was a disaster. Prawns over cooked, beef roast hacked to pieces and full of sinew. Lamb was dry and the turkey was all of the above. Dessert not bad, but some one needs to learn what a creme brulee is....it is not a lime instant pudding with no topping..again, no bowls or spoons..we qued to wait for them.lastly, some one needs to spend some time training your willing staff on what a sweet wine is. I was accomodating as he was trying and it was Christmas, i got a dry white. Pitty..there were alot of out of town people there, the comments were all the same.."nice setting, food a let down". Better luck next time...but...

We arrived as a family with kids including a 10 month baby, in pouring rain, at 5 pm, to grab a quick bite on our way to Joburg. The staff refused to serve anything as they were booked from 7 pm onwards. They claimed that even making a pizza takes 80 minutes ! Owner was not contactable and no one was interested, despite the restaurant being 80% empty! Unbelievable. We ended up at a mexican restaurant on the opposite side of the road, also fully booked, yet staff that was accommodating, helpful and smiling. Highly recommend Picassoβs Mexican Taqueria, great food, ambiance and...
