Die Veiling Sasolburg — Restaurant in Metsimaholo Local Municipality

Made a booking for two....heard the food was the best in the free state. On arrival no one to great us at the door or show us a seat. We stood waiting and waiting till a waiter arrived.....no booked table. We took a seat and as we sat down a table full of intoxicated youngsters where screaming and swearing.....we got up and moved to a more decent area....or should I say more suitable! Sat and waited for menu's....and waited some more.....we ordered some drink while waiting for the menu's. We ordered our main course and did not wait long at all although the were busy. My wife ordered some steak and sides and I ordered some beef ribs with sides. The steak was seasoned to perfection and cooked to my wife's liking! The ribs was compared to Horse and Rivers ribs and to my biggest surprise it was better. It was basted perfectly, it was so moist...succulent and mouth-watering delicious. It woke up all my taste buds and I could not even cut it as it was falling apart. Thumbs up to the chef for this dish. I can really recommend the food although we had some rude and selfish patrons still sitting close by although this is a family restaurant. Under the Lapa was not marked as smoking or non smoking.....this was a turnoff as I'm a non smoker and very unpleasant while having supper. The atmosphere was a little disappointing due to the swearing and bad language of the drunk patrons. Other than that the food is surely a pleasant experience and very tasty. Worst service experienced on Sunday the 26th of January. Got there and ordered a plate of chips for my daughter because she was hungry, waited an hour for it. Also waited up to 45 minutes for drinks. We wanted to order food but after seeing how poor the service was we decided against it and rather asked for the bill and left. Initially walked in with no assistance what so ever. This is the second time i was there that this happened. Secondly, how can you allow tables to be occupied by bikers helmets and jackets? This is very un-professional for a so called "family orientated restuarant" customers walking in wanting tables to sit down for lunch finding that its loaded with helmets and jackets. This is unecceptable, wont be seeing me soon...

First time having supper at the veiling sasolburg. Worst experience ever. Asking the waiter info regarding menu. Unable to answer. I ask for snail starter the waiter put a plate with steak and garlic souce with chips infront of me. The ribs i order was owfull. 600g with burned fat and extremly salty sticky and dry. My wife order the rump special. She received just more than 10 pieces of chips. My 2 sons order a dry burger. The price for the burger, i could have gone to Spur having chips and onion rings instead of burger alone. With the ribs only servette was given, no wipe. When receiving the bill no toothpick or sweetie presented. First time seeing this. Wont recomend this...
