Title: Extremely Disappointing Experience at Burger King Allen's Nek, JHB - Order No. 22232
I would like to share my recent experience at Burger King Allen's Nek in Johannesburg through this Google review. Unfortunately, my visit to this establishment on May 18, 2023, was nothing short of extremely disappointing.
Upon reaching the drive-through, I was informed that my order might take a few extra minutes due to the preparation of the boerewors burger. Understanding the situation, I patiently waited for approximately 20 minutes. However, it became evident that something was amiss when my husband decided to check on our order. To our dismay, we discovered our burgers sitting on an open tray, ready and waiting, while the staff engaged in casual conversation, neglecting their duties. Shockingly, even though there were three employees present, it seemed like they were unable or unwilling to provide any form of service.
Adding to our frustration, the staff member who initially took my order approached me at that point and asked if I needed to place an order. It was baffling, considering that I was the only customer there. To witness four individuals fail to fulfill their responsibilities effectively is disheartening, to say the least.
To make matters worse, when I finally received my order, the burgers were disappointingly cold. This lack of attention to detail and disregard for quality control only further compounded my dissatisfaction. As a loyal customer, I have always associated Burger King with high standards and quality, but this experience was a far cry from what I expected.
Regrettably, my visit to Burger King Allen's Nek has left me with a negative impression of the establishment. First issue: the wait times. The drive-through is supposed to be fast and convenient, but every single time we use it, we are told to wait 10 minutes at the collection window. After complaining in-store, we decided to try preordering by phone to save time. We called 20 minutes before arriving, yet we were still asked to wait another 10 minutes upon arrival. How this place handles a dinner rush is beyond me.
The real tipping point came during a recent visit. We ordered a Hot Chilli Lovers Chicken Burger at around 8 PM through the drive-through. At the pay window, we politely asked how long it would take and were told "2 minutes." At the collection window, they asked us to park and wait 10 minutes. 20 minutes later (yes, we timed it), the food finally arrived. When we got home, we discovered they gave us beef instead of chicken.
As Hindus, this was not just disappointing but outright disrespectful. Thinking it was a mistake, we returned to the store, only to be met with rudeness. An employee told us, "You don't know the menu! There is only beef with this option." Shocked, we requested a refund, but they refused and instead offered to make the chicken version. At this point, we declined because we refuse to support such a disrespectful establishment.
This Burger King operates as if it’s the only fast-food option and customers should be grateful for whatever they get. Their behavior was unacceptable, particularly toward Hindus in the community. The blatant disregard for religious sensitivities, combined with their consistent lack of punctuality and respect for customers, is appalling.

It’s been a while since we’ve been to Burger King and guess what nothing has changed and we’ve waited even longer for our meal with no explanation. And now on arrival at home, they hadn’t even given us all our food. Shocking. They should be shut down.
This is the third time we haven’t been given the correct amount of nuggets we ordered and paid for. We were only given 4 nuggets although we ordered a medium 6 piece nugget meal. I specifically asked for the garlic mayo dip for both of the nugget meals we ordered, but we were given two BBQ dips instead. We waited an extremely long time in the drive through queue. But it didn’t feel like we were waiting because the staff were too busy preparing meals.. instead it felt like we were disturbing their jol in the back, where they were eating (all the customer’s missing) nuggets as snacks.. My daughter was very disappointed because she was the one who had asked for Burger King nuggets in the first place… On another occasion two of our nuggets looked like someone had taken a bite out of them… Luckily we decided to eat-in, on one of these particular occasions, and after showing the gentleman who we ordered from, we were given two new nuggets to compensate.
