The hospitality at Weltevreden Carnival is simply pathetic and rude.
We phoned ahead, asked to make a booking at the Carnival (kids play area) side of the estate. They informed us that we cannot make a booking. First come, first served. So we asked if they were busy, they said not at all, we should not have an issue to find a space.
We then decided to drive through, and also make a booking at the restaurant (Jonkershuis) for 1pm, after our daughter had some time playing.
We arrive at security. We tell him that we have a reservation at the restaurant and plan to play first. He tells us we cannot enter. He says the Carnival side is full. We ask, but can we then park and just wait to go to the restaurant? He says no, there is no parking.
So we phone the number we used for booking. After some back and forth, we are let in. We decide to just go to the carnival side to see what is going on, because there was AMPLE parking. The estate looks down right empty. Very few customers. Based on this, we assume the guard made an error. We enter the Carnival area and see very few people. Very few kids. It is quiet.
We are told they cannot help us. They have nowhere to seat us, they are full. I counted about 8 open tables.
They eventually said we can just walk around with our daughter to play. Obviously we went to sit at one of the 8 open tables. My husband then went to go speak to a manager. She rudely informed him that they only allow half the capacity because the restaurant cannot keep up with demand and this resulted in bad reviews. Guess what... this will CAUSE bad reviews. She also rudely stated that there are people waiting at security now to come in, and we took their place. But this is first come first served????? We were told so MANY times. So how come we then cannot be first in line?
Absolutely ridiculous. They will not see our business again and we will be sure to inform every single person we know to NOT try to take there kids there to play. You get treated like an absolute criminal and you are very clearly made aware that you are inconveniencing them.
Why would the estate not just hire extra help for the holiday then? Absolutely boggles the mind. Disrespectful staff.
We have now been here for about 20mins. Quite a few tables have left, still we are offered no service while other clients enter the establishment with their kids.
