I am so sorry to write this review. We visited Karibib Wine Craft with genuine appreciation for wine and storytelling, having explored over 200 wine farms across South Africa. Sadly, this was the first time we left a tasting not because of the wine, but because of the lack of basic hospitality.

The atmosphere was lovely and the wines showed potential, but the experience was overshadowed by an attitude that left us uncomfortable and frankly disrespected.

When I, as someone working professionally in tourism, kindly expressed in private that the level of guest care was not what we expected, we were met not with understanding, but with a passive-aggressive insinuation that we had helped ourselves to wine from a bottle on the table. This was both false and offensive. We would never do such a thing, and to even suggest it, without grace, without checking facts, is a serious misstep in any service context.

The staff member was cold, unwelcoming, and avoided eye contact throughout. It felt as though our presence was inconvenient rather than appreciated. This was not just poor service; it was the absence of respect.

South Africa’s wine country is known for its warmth, elegance, and heartfelt welcome, and it’s deeply disappointing when a venue falls so far from that standard. I sincerely hope this feedback leads to reflection. Because hospitality isn’t an extra in this industry, it’s...

Not knowing what to expect, I visited the Karibib Vineyards with my friend and on arrival I was already very impressed. The tasting center and restaurant is perched on a hilltop with beautiful views stretching from Stellenbosch to Somerset West. The tasting center is quite small, but there is enough space outside to relax. Karibib showcases craft wines (very small batches produced) from a couple of different winemakers. All of the wines are pretty unique as the winemakers get a chance to experiment and play around with the varietals and wine-making process. They also have a small restaurant which mostly serves tapas and platters, and although I didn't have anything to eat, my friend did and he said it was very tasty. Our waiter (Marieul) also made it a great experience as he was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. The only recommendation I have is to allow buying wine by the glass (from the selection of wines opened for the day) as after your tasting you might still want to relax and take in the view, but don't necessarily want to buy an...

This place is under new management, the owner of the wine farm has taken over at the restaurant are also quite young but what they have done here is brilliant and a great idea. The service is very personal. The food is great. The menu changed a bit. The wine you will find here you typically cannot find anywhere very easily, if you even manage to know some of the wines, from highly rated winemakers. This is truly a boutique winery. Highly recommended. The views are stunning as well. They have great pizza and a platter. Best pizza dough that is made by the chef for 3 days!! This place...
