My family and I had the most appalling Sunday lunch yesterday. The quality of the food and presentation was shocking. Our steaks arrived, all hacked into pieces- it was obviously done so to disguise the terrible cut of meats they used. Every single bite of the steaks had hard gristle and thick undercooked fat. Even the chicken had gristle! Every mouthful was gristle or rubbery. The pastry of the pie was burnt to the point that you could not cut into it. We complained to our waiter and she was so sweet and apologetic. She took the 2 main meals away and compensated us with 2 starters. You'd think that sending back your main meal would give the chef a chance to redeem themselves, but what we got was literally burnt, black toast, with a very sad tuna salad. The tables around us were all complaining about their food, so the atmosphere was tense and unpleasant. Who ever is the chef, they should go back to learning the basics and stop buying in cheap...

the vine bistro at glenelly was probably one of the best fine dining experiences i’ve ever had. i went there as part of the under 30s special for R290 which consists of a 3 course meal which is paired with wine. for starters, i enjoyed the pan fried pork belly, apple and kale salad with roasted walnuts. for the main course, i opted for the duck leg and it was absolutely delicious. the meat was practically falling off the bone. for dessert, i went for the warm melting chocolate biscuit and spicy poached pear and i don’t regret it. the biscuit was the best melting biscuit i’ve ever had. it was the first time having a spicy poached pear and it was juicy, for lack of a better word. everything was bursting with flavours and i’ll definitely be going back there for more meals. it is worth every...

We originally booked this as we were travelling from Cape Town to Franschhoek and it was on our way then our plans changed but we decided to go anyway. I think that had we looked at the menu first we may have chosen to eat elsewhere as when we got there, there was nothing ‘throwing’ itself at us but that’s down to personal choice. We did both end up ordering the Bouillabaisse which turned out to be very nice. The service was good but we felt the waitress was disappointed we weren’t ordering more - spending more money!! Once we finished our meal we had a look around and realised that what we should have done was gone for the wine tasting and ordered a meat/cheese platter. The views from the room above were superior to those of where we were below A lovely vineyard but we just made the...

Overall very nice place for lunch or dinner - fantastic terrace and views that set the tone. The food is something between casual modern French and fine dining. Unfortunately I noticed how the quality went downhill (last time had yellowtail tartar and it was half portion and totally bland + springbok fillet that was simply done wrong technic wise, jus was like broth - so watery and not was jus supposed to be). but if you don't seek fine dining experience and not very picky the place is great. Not expensive as well.

This is fine dining...it certainly isn't a bestro...the meal I has was a combo for R265...Springbok shank with the option of starters or pudding... A good deal... The food was excellent, service was excellent the views are stunning...the whole ambience is warm and welcoming...there is an indoor and outdoor eating area which is great in summer...only issue was that we requested wine tasting while having lunch but was told no wine tasting while having meals... But it's something that can be looked into...
