We went during peak season (late December) and expected to receive a festive welcome, but ended up rather disappointed by both the bar and restaurant. Let's start with the bar. It's interesting to look at for 5 to 10 minutes. Many different visitors have added their decorations to the place over the years. Regrettably, the barman didn't bother to make eye contact with us, let alone greet. The loos (both male and female) are some of the worst I've ever seen, especially for a such a well-known establishment. Now for the restaurant. The procedure there is "different." If you sit down and wait for service, the chances are they'll ignore you. Instead, you have to grab your own menu (with scant food options) and walk up to the cashier/waitron. The person we dealt with on the day was rude and, shockingly, argumentative. This left a bitter taste in our mouths before even taking a bite. Ordered some sandwiches, milkshakes and a plate of chips. The waitron then gave a heart-hearted explanation (not apology) for their rudeness, which was probably a last-gasp attempt to land a big tip. The milkshakes were nice (albeit overpriced). Nothing amazing, but nice. We had to order the sandwiches because they were out of burgers (during peak season). So we went with what was advertised as something like "toasted cheese with ham and tomato." I don't think I've ever felt more ripped off in my life. The prices they charged for those sandwiches were daylight robbery. I will say that the kitchen was generous with its chips portion considering their price. Overall, I can't recommend this place. If you want to check it out to see what all the fuss is about, good luck to you. Try the milkshakes or order a beer. But don't bother eating there (and hold it in if you can), because the food is a rip-off, the service is bad and the loos are...
Read moreThe recent video by French YouTuber Kino Yves documents an experience at Ronnie's Sex Shop.. Not a good one in the eyes of many South Africans.
The individual behind the counter displayed a shocking lack of hospitality, treating a foreign visitor with an unprofessional and rude demeanor.
While the price of R30 for a small, 200ml drink is concerning, the poor customer service is what truly stands out.
Given the global reach of this video (already 28K views in 8 hours at the time of writing this), this incident could be incredibly damaging to your business's reputation and deter future tourism.
I urge the management to address this behavior to ensure all visitors are treated with the kindness and respect South Africa...
Read moreUnfriendly staff. Seems like they hate their jobs and dislike people. We drove 120km to visit and arrived to 42°C midday heat. First thing we experienced was the stench from an open sewer next to the car park. Next up we order a beer but they don't stock the one we want (Tafel Lager) which isn't a problem, we order a Windhoek Draught. Just as well I asked before opening or drinking it - "do you take card payments?" to be told "No" and some excuse about signal and load shedding blah blah.... Needless to say we left and drove to the nearest town to quench our thirst.
What a waste. This place has a quirky name but has absolutely nothing else to offer. Don't go out of your way to visit Ronnie's...
