Service was very friendly with the owner welcoming us when we arrived. The waitrons were friendly and efficient.
I had the one of the daily lunch specials: chicken pie with vegetables and pumpkin fritters along with a Sunburst(a unique mocktail with grenadine, soda water and rosemary). Absolutely delicious and a very generous portion! The pie tasted just like my grandmother used to make it.
We sat on the porch of the restaurant with great views of the valley and the rest of Tesselaarsdal. The inside of the bistro is full of interesting antiques and various products of local artisans.
If you are in the area I would definitely recommend making a detour to De Postkantoor. I know I will...
Read moreUnfortunate experience. Walked into the restaurant thinking of getting something to eat. Walked around and didn't see anyone. Used the toilet before getting back into the car. Had one of what I assume was an owner coming up to the car window asking if I'm going to leave a tip for the "girl" who cleans the toilets as she assumed we just stopped there to use the toilet. As a general courtesy I don't assume the worst of people on first meeting. Unfortunately this was our first interaction with De Postkantoor. Perhaps we will try again on another occasion. I understand people might stop there regularly to use the toilet as it is the most prominent place in a tiny town however the encounter was really uncalled for and upsetting.
