BLATANTLY RACIST.
I visited this restaurant with my family, our waitress greeted us with a lacklustre attitude, not friendly in the least she also failed to inform us of missing ingredients.( No avocado)
Once our food arrived, I questioned the missing ingredient, to which a different server provided explanation “we don’t have any”. Our server returned later to report the same explanation.
HOWEVER, the woman seated at the very next table ordered avocado, this “missing ingredient” as an additional item. When her food arrived, her food, by some miracle had this “missing ingredient”.
I should also state that when this table of guests arrived our server was suddenly friendly, animated and greeted them with the line “hello ladies, can I get you anything to drink? Some water” I noticed this as her attitude was STARKLY DIFFERENT- and quite obviously she had made a judgment, that these clients deserved quality service, while we did not.
NOBODY at this restaurant could provide us with any valid explanation as to how our food a was missing avocado.
INSTEAD, we were again met with this lacklustre attitude. The manager was unavailable and called the next day to provide a weak apology about missing avocado.
ITS NOT ABOUT AVO! Obviously! It’s not as trivial as that! How can you treat one table so differently to another and PROVIDE NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY?!!
AS A PERSON OF COLOUR. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT TOU AVOID THIS PLACE.
It was blatantly obvious that certain clientele were treated differently based on the colour of their skin. We were profiled and seemed unworthy of quality service.
What a sour experience...
Read moreBluewater Cafe is our favourite local regular restaurant. Our daughter loves playing in the children's wonderland at the back and we love the breathtaking views and lovely food. Horses roam the meadow in front, peacocks cry and strut their amazing fan tails, and across the wetland we can see the turquoise blue surf of Noordhoek beach beneath Chapman's Peak. If the weather is calm, it is heavenly, but equally a challenge when the south-easter blows hard.
We all agree that the Bluewater pizzas are some of the best we have ever had - anywhere.
We also have severe allergies and food intolerances in our family, and this restaurant has become a firm favorite within our circle of safety. The owner as well as the staff have really made an effort to make our meals there an enjoyable and stress free experience - to the extent that they now have a dedicated pizza recipe (not on the menu) referred to under my wife's name.
The only thing to be aware of is that service can be very slow at times, and they are closed all day Monday and half of Tuesday. Also, if you do not enjoy children, peacocks and chickens running freely around your dinner table, you should choose to...
Read moreWanted to visit this restaurant over the weekend. When we arrived, no one was at the door so my mom walked in to see if they had a table outside while I waited for my husband and 1 year old daughter to catch up. My mom then walked back and said they did have tables outside. As my mom walked back out to us a waitress followed her and put a rope sign up across the door saying 'wait to be seated' even though she could see we were literally about to walk inside. Was very weird as she could see us trying to walk back in. Didn't greet us or ask if we were looking for a table, just put the rope up to block us. So we asked her if we could have one of the tables outside and she said they are full. We said we just had a look and there were tables open and without going to look she just said "well they are probably full now". Mind you there is a sign at the door saying they do not take bookings for outside so I don't know how these tables all of a sudden magically filled up as we were the only people at the door. Needless to say we turned around and left. If that's the welcome we got, can't even imagine how terrible their...
