It was our first visit to Peppa Jacks on saturday for my sister-in-laws Birthday celebration. Upon arrival the place looked really nice. There is a play area if you want to take children along. However, things quickly went south, we hardly saw our waiter and my husband went to the bar to buy our drinks. He did this for most of the night, and would take forever to come back. I ended up having only one grapetiser for the whole night as it was not worth the trouble. Most of us ended up doing that since we waited so long for the drinks. We waited 90minutes for our snack platters which arrived without any plates or cutlery and serviettes. During this time my husband and I ordered our food, we both decided on the steak strips roll, mine without chillie and his medium chillie. We waited an hour for that, it arrived both with medium chillie, and no cutlery. I went to get him cutlery myself so that he can start his meal, which was cold. Mine was returned to the kitchen to be rectified, but was also returned cold, and the steak was really tough. The restaurant does not put any heaters outside to make it more enjoyable. My sister-in-law ordered a hunters at some point, the waiter brought it to her with a glass, but unopened, after 20min she was still waiting for a bottle opener. This was by far the worst experience I have had in a very long time. If you know that fridays and saturdays are busy, ensure that you have sufficient staff on hand. We left early and will not recommend this...
Read moreSlightly disappointing. For a Mexican food restaurant we found the food to be very bland. Service was not that good. We wanted a spicy sauce as the hot pulled pork burrito which one of our guests had was just bland and that sauce we requested, never made it to the table. The wait for food is terribly long and our starters arrived with our mains. Food was also cold. The tortilla was warm but the filling was ice cold of my fajita. My steak was mostly rubbery with only a few edible pieces. I sent back half of my chips as the plate is filled with steak house chips which was very warm, but the main meal, the fajita needs focusing and not so much focus on hot chips. I am sorry for this review but I will definitely not be eating here again. One other thing is the tacos wire stand should go. We could not get the tacos out of that stand and the tacos eventually broke up and fell apart on removing it. Cannot see the point of having it. The overall concensus of the group was that the presentation of food is overall good but the food is so bland and the service is poor. Our waitress was barely around so if wanted something we had to keep looking around for her and L help from other staff members was...
Read moreUnfortunately have have to say the only good part for the day was the great service Cameron gave us as our waiter, oh and the beer of course. It has been a while since I've visited the place again but immediately noticed the standard regarding food potions and pricing has majorly changed, as your your getting much smaller food portions on which should be the more popular dishes while they jacked up the price. Even just sitting there i heard multiple waiters advice customers not to order certain things as the price comparison of what you will be getting has a huge gap. But as to the food we odered, the Jalapeno poppers had the punch you would expect from a poppers although 2 for R69 is bit steep, the pulled pork tacos was literally so small that you can eat one in two bites so was very disappointed as that dish was like R109 and was lacking in taste, and lastly the Chipotle Chicken chimmychangas and also around R109 was also lacking in flavour but thanks to Cameron he sorted me out with some nice hot sause and saved that dish. To some things up, for the time being until I know things have changed I'll be looking at new Tex-Mex places where I get value...
