Update. Okay so I was looking forward to a much needed reunion with my sister in law. The place had changed. Menu been upgraded to a metropolitan style. Oh the scones are still on there though. Food was cold when arrived. Food, not fresh. Poor staff were too few, and training would be great for them. It will boost the confidence. The dessert was off too. Which came first, and coffee after 25 minutes had not arrived. I miss the old quaint place that was a wonderful place which was affordable. I understand change is necessary. I wish you all the best. I will miss coming to Philadelphia. Was quiet when we arrived. Ordered coffee and scones. Scones arrived then had to wait a bit for the coffee........so I did some looking into and discovered that Lucrecia(sorry if mispelt) had to do everything. From taking the order, to people paying in the shop, so no hand held machine. Plus she is the lady who makes the delicious coffee. What made me sad is that the manager just walks around....not helping when things get hectic. Well done to Lucrecia and the other ladies who are forever polite, friendly, warm and kind. The best is yet to come!...

Imagine Bliss... Sitting entranced under the giant pepper tree watching and llistening to the masterful live crafting of the instrumental versions of great recognizable music by Cape Towns' own Rob Hack... while a continuous stream of little birds Twitter their approval while flitting above eye level from one seed buffet to another .... while patrons engage in their own bubble at each table which appears to be enveloped in connection over the joyful sharing of beautifully presented ample helpings of delicious combinations of food and drinks alcoholic and not... cute carafes of wine.. excellent coffee and desserts... then there is a shop .o my goodness... remember to leave time to explore the natural store of healthy food and supplements the old tdorp of Philadelphia in which in is situated also home to Magical Minerals store .. minerals and gems ...esoteric and other wonders including clothing jewellery artwork... a one stop all senses satisfied experience... maybe plan a walk or cycle in the surrounding wheat fields ...you may even be lucky enough to see my...

Still fuming over the way my husband's meal - missing half of the ingredients (avo, aubergine and more) - was handled. Management acknowledged that they had seen the incomplete dish going out (WHY was it even allowed to go out in that state??) and asked the waitress to provide a separate plate of the missing ingredients, which never happened - and management clearly didn't follow up on! And when it came to paying for the meal, management openly acknowledged the issue but with barely an apology and nothing to rectify the fact that we paid for ingredients that he never got to eat - with no offer of a partial refund, voucher... shockingly handled by management, disappointing! Your restaurant was recommended to us, it was our first visit... and this is how we were treated. We certainly won't be continuing the recommendation, you need to learn to follow up on your mistakes, don't send incomplete plates of food out, and at least try and offer something to make up for your incompetency if...

A hidden gem in a quaint rustic village with a preserved respect to an existing community, upon arrival we were greeted by staff who at first gave us a smaller table for 4, which was specified by our inviter that we’d be 4 adults and 2 kids, which was corrected within 2min post arrival. Staff were friendly and inviting throughout our visit however dilatory after ordering mains. Live music was calm and euphonious so helped with auditory stimulation adding to our experience. Our food was naturally tasty and nourishing, just needed more seasoning, my daughter’s pasta was odd, quite stoggy and curled for tagliatelle, she enjoyed it though(she’s 5)and loves pasta, it was egg free and incorrectly made/cooked, we’re vegan so I’m glad they could cater for a hungry child. There are a few other vegan options for mature palates. The flatbread was delicious and light. Overall it’s was a lovely experience if you’re searching for outside city food and scenic experiences

Ventured out to Philadelphia this morning with darkening skies and thunderstorms brewing. Beautiful atmospheric short drive into the countryside to the Pepper Tree. Rustic restaurant set in a beautiful street dotted with interesting esoteric shops (the gem shop was indeed a gem!). We had scones with delicious mixed Berry jam and cheese. The scones were fresh, light and like no other we had eaten before. The coffee was to quote Jan Spies, ryk en lekkerrr. There's a wee shop inside selling various farm stall type standards to suit everyone including eggs. The staff were all friendly and attentive. C'est SI bon!

Service and drinks took forever, no meat options available on the menu! Not even bacon..... Very sad indeed for us locals as it seems the clientele they wish to cater for is very much touristy. It's not like I am looking for a piece of steak, but a basic breakfast would do. This place is and was a hidden gem of which I loved to bring family and friends. General advice perhaps is look at the basics instead of trying to cater all green.
