.....this was our first visit to this venue and now I understand why its named Zevenwacht Country Restaurant, when you leave the main road and pass through the security gates its still a long winding road ahead that passes forest of tall tree, there's a large lake and its really beautiful when the cottage lights reflect on the waters, really true country setting! You are met at the door by a local host or waitron. Our host was Nadia very pleasant helpful and always serving you with a lovely smile! The restaurant is in a old cape dutch house, impressive when you behold it for the first time! The house has many rooms which have been set out as individual dinning rooms allowing for a maximum of 16 guest, 3 tables for 4 and 2 tables for two almost very private and intimate! And what was more awesome was that each room has a fire place with a log fire going! We tried the Zevenwacht Bouquet Blanc which was a semi-sweet fruity white wine, truly pleasant on the taste-buds! They offer a lovely brown seed loaf & french bread with pure butter! Mmmmmmm'ish! As we are meat eaters we settled for the 300g Sirloin served with potato wedges, with sauteed mushrooms in a brown very savoury sauce and a toss-salad! The teaks was insidious-lii succulent and prepared just as ordered! The place is well decorated with lots of black & white photos relating to the wine industry and lots of old antique furniture, whats also very intriguing is the effects of the many large mirrors on the walls of each dinning room! The outside grounds are a beauty of greenery, shrubs and trees of all dimensions & sizes! A day time visit is our plan for the future to take in more of this beautiful country venue which also provides accommodation on...

I booked the buffet breakfast to start off hubby's birthday celebrations. When we get to the restaurant we are told that due to limited booking they have not set up the buffet and we need to order off the menu however certain items are not available. Would have been nice if the restaurant had the courtesy of informing before hand so I could have made other arrangements. They did however eventually make a plan to assist however you had order buffet items directly from the waiter. I am heavily pregnant and ordered myself a decaf coffee, when the waitress brought my coffee to the table and I verbally asked her again as conformation that it was I'm fact decaf she proceeded to confirm that it was. Before I could have a sip we confirmed our food order and with my order we stressed the requirement for the eggs to be well done, hubby then proceeds to point at my tummy as conformation that I am pregnant (which cannot be missed as I am about to pop any day now). As soon as the waitress sees this (and after confirming my coffee was decaf when she sets it down) she proceeds to say oh I don't think they made this coffee decaf, I need to get you another one! This really left a bitter taste in my mouth. How does a restaurant like Zevenwacth blatantly lie to their guests. Whatever the reason was for my request for a decaf coffee should have been respected and followed through.

In addition to the above when the bill came I was incorrectly charged for 2 items, had I not checked the bill properly before paying would have definitely missed this.

Extremely disappointing service from an establishment like Zevenwacth and I will not recommend anyone to visit them especially...

Zevenwacht will very quickly become your next home away from home.

The first time we visited Zevenwacht, we told them we were looking for wedding venues and we had an appointment.

We stepped into the cozy restaurant on a cold winter morning where we were warmly welcomed, offered some coffee and completely overwhelmed by the amazing smells coming from the kitchen. We immediately made a lunch booking, no matter how the venue tour went.

Zevenwacht is captivating, with it's magical gardens, farm land and pond, whether you choose the woods or the grass for your ceremony, you can't go wrong, I guarantee it.

We chose the lapa for our reception with a buffet food option, and wow, absolutely amazing. 6 Months down the line and I seriously still crave the buffet foods! The staff was amazing, dancing with us and generally great spirits and lovely, professional and extremely attentive attitudes, we absolutely love the Zevenwacht team.

Huge thank you to Francois for handling our wedding so beautifully.

Their restaurant is one of the crowning gems of Zevenwacht, we have made decades of memories in a few short years visiting them, the food is outstanding, the team is top notch and the location is captivating.

Thank you to the Zevenwacht team for making this place what it is!

P.S don't miss out on the wines and touring the lands a bit, the chalets on-farm are really lovely too, beautiful views and a short distances from...

Beautiful restaurant. The food was good, well presented and delicious. The manager, Nana was excellent, and our server Ziyanda the absolute best! She saved the day with her kindness, warmth and professionalism. Earlier though, upon arrival, we had a really bad experience and were made to feel unwelcome. We arrived at 11:45am and were taken to our beautiful table with a lovely view. I noticed food/dirt under our table and politely informed a member of staff. Then I was told that they usually clean between 11am and noon, but we arrived early for our reservation (by 15 minutes). It was very clearly insinuated that this is our fault for arriving early! Then why were we not told to wait in the lounge for 15 mins before being seated? (We were in-fact taken to this table upon arrival). None of this made sense. I truly didn’t appreciate this persons tone or the fact that moments later she repeated for the second time that this happened because we arrived 15 minutes early. It wasn’t a big deal for me to point out that the area under the table was dirty, I was cool about it all, but this member of staff made it all so much worse. She really shouldn’t be interacting with the guests if she can’t be polite and empathetic. At this point we felt so unwelcome and just wanted to leave. I doubt we will ever return to this restaurant, although both Nana and Ziyanda did their best to provide us with an enjoyable experience.

Firstly, if you use maps then you will miss some of the turns and end up on private property. Luckily, the owner was a friendly dude who informed us that they often get visitors who is lost during the quest to get to the restaurant. We had to change the location to the "wine estate" to get to the correct place. Firstly, the estate is beautiful with grass and a water body and these make excellent places for pictures etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were a group of 11 which included 3 kids. Our orders took longer than 1 hour which is not good if you are screamingly hungry. There is some lack of attention to detail such as dirty glasses which surprised us seeing that this place gets top reviews. I think the food is reasonably priced and I agree with others that some wine estates will have a R10 difference (less) on the meal price tags. The food was standard to good and everyone had different opinions depending on the meal they selected. I have a feeling that this place will surprise me on subsequent visits but that remains to be seen.
