Heard about this place a year or so ago and finally took the pilgrimage. Worth every minute of the 4-hour round trip!
The service is great! While I speak Korean, the staff seemed more than comfortable in dealing with English. The menu is well laid out and offers detailed explanations of everything in both English and Korean.
The food was very good. Typical pub fair, french fries and pizza (there was a fish and chips option, but it was sold out when I visited). The pizza was probably the best pub pizza I've ever had. The cheese is actually good, not just shredded pizza cheese! The crust was perfect, soft and warm and chewy, but strong enough to hold up the toppings. The toppings were very good as well. Not your typical, Korean busy pizza with a bunch of different toppings. We ordered a simple arugula pizza, and it came out with just the right amount of greens, some nice cherry tomatoes, and just a drizzle of balsamic. So good!
Of course, the beers were the main draw. My wife and I ordered a sampler flight of their four award winners: Pyeongchang Gold, White Crow IPA, Georani Brown, and Saesoni. All four were great, but the stand outs for me were the IPA and the Pyeongchang Gold. The IPA was not a typical IPA in thatbit wasn't just a hoppy bear, it was actually rather light and crisp with very clear citrusy notes. It would be killer on a hot day. The Pyeongchang Gold was very smooth with a crisp, clean finish. The Georani Brown was very good as well, almost like an Original Guinness in that it was slightly bitter with coffee and caramel but nice and light. It tasted like a thick stout but drank like an amber ale. The Saesoni was a nice, almost weizen like beer. It had some nice sweet notes and was an easy drink. It might pair well with an orange slice, almost like a Blue Moon. We also ordered a glas of their Cool Buck and it was the one lager to rule them all. Super clean and crisp with just a note of cereals. In fact, the beers were so good that I sprung for a 12 pack of bottles to bring home!
Definitely recommended if you are in the Pyeongchang area and want a good beer (or three!) with a slice.
The facilities are clean and very well decorated, and the entire establishment is pet friendly! I'll be back and bring...
