Among them, Hwangpo Naengmyeon stands out with its diverse menuโ€”mul naengmyeon (cold broth noodles), bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed noodles), and especially teukmi naengmyeon, a unique blend of spicy pollack sashimi and chilled broth. The noodles, made from a mix of buckwheat and sweet potato starch, are both chewy and smooth. The warm beef broth served on the side was rich and flavorful, perfect for whetting the appetite. The grilled egg that came with the naengmyeon was also a memorable touch. That day, I had just finished a site visit in Sacheon for a tourism investment briefing hosted by Gyeongnam Province. On my way back to Daejeon, I made a deliberate detour to Jinju, craving a bowl of famous, delicious naengmyeon. I asked a taxi driver for a recommendation, and without hesitation, he pointed me to Hwangpo Naengmyeon. I arrived too early, so I waited outside the restaurant for about an hour. Eventually, I became the first customer of the day. The naengmyeon came topped with slices of yukjeon (pan-fried beef), fermented pollack sikhye, and a modest amount of broth that tied everything together beautifully. Among them, Hwangpo Naengmyeon stands out with its diverse menuโ€”mul naengmyeon (cold broth noodles), bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed noodles), and especially teukmi naengmyeon, a unique blend of spicy pollack sashimi and chilled broth. The noodles, made from a mix of buckwheat and sweet potato starch, are both chewy and smooth. The warm beef broth served on the side was rich and flavorful, perfect for whetting the appetite.
