Donkey and I recently visited Gamttanam Chakhan Nongjang, a popular orange picking experience on Jeju Island. We arrived on a rainy day, but luckily, we had rented a car and were able to wait for the rain to subside a bit before entering the restaurant.
The restaurant itself is quite small and cozy, with only a few tables inside. The majority of the seating is outdoors, but since it was raining, we were happy to find a table available upon arrival. There were some other customers waiting for a table, so we felt lucky to get a seat right away.
We were there primarily for the orange picking experience, but unfortunately, our visit didn't coincide with the orange picking season. However, we were still able to enjoy the fresh flavours of Jeju Island through the restaurant's menu. We especially loved the orange cake, which had a light citrus flavour and was both refreshing and delicious.
Despite the rainy weather, we managed to capture a few sweet memories with some photos inside and outside the restaurant. The charming atmosphere of the restaurant, with its cozy interior and outdoor seating area, made for a lovely and relaxing experience.
If you're looking for a place to enjoy the taste of local Jeju Island produce, and perhaps even try your hand at picking oranges, Gamttanam Chakhan Nongjang is worth a visit. Just be sure to check the orange picking season beforehand for a truly...

Read moreGamttanam is a beautifully decorated café that clearly puts a lot of thought into its aesthetic. The interior is warm and inviting, with modern yet cozy design elements that make it a lovely place to relax or take photos. It definitely has that Instagram-worthy charm, and the atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit if you’re nearby.
However, when it came to the taste of the items, I was a bit underwhelmed. I tried the tangerine tart, which looked stunning, but the flavor didn’t quite live up to the presentation. The texture was a little off — not as fresh or citrusy as I had hoped. I also had the tangerine yuzu citrus tea, which sounded refreshing but turned out to be far too sweet for my liking. It overpowered the natural tanginess of the fruit and felt more like a sugary drink than a tea.
While the café is undeniably a visual delight and a pleasant place to sit and unwind, I do wish the flavors matched the beauty of the space. If you’re more into ambiance than taste, this spot might still be enjoyable. Hopefully the menu evolves, as the potential is...
