Hotel Restaurante Nuestra Señora de Sonsoles — Restaurant in Ávila

I don't know what we expected when we booked this restaurant with rooms except that the price was exceptionally modest. Pleasantly situated above Avila a short drive out of town there is plenty of parking next to the main building. Rooms are on the bottom floor with the restaurant and large tapas bar on the top floor. |We arrived with restaurant still busy with the late Spanish lunch crowd. There is no official reception you check in at the bar where we were met by Maggie the host. No problem in checking in although Maggie does not speak English just Spanish and German. One of the helpful waiters was roped in to provide the English translation. No problems - all very friendly. ||The rooms were one Floor down - no lift if that is a problem for you. They were what I would call rural style but with modern bathroom attached (shower no bath) Perfectly clean. We have double bed which could have been more comfortable but for the price ok.|The bar a large room with classic Spanish style decoration provided a large selection of tapas and although we had booked the restaurant would have been great to eat and drink and locals obviously thought so too.||The restaurant is modern and obviously popular (the reason we planned to stay there). The evening we stayed we were the only guests hence reference to tapas earlier. However we were made welcome and served by a charming waitress. full marks to her and her pretty good attempts at English. Food was good if not inspiring but we did play safe on the menu.||Breakfast was coffee and toast. We were asked if we wanted something more but we were happy to depart. Exceptional, Professional & Very Friendly Proprietors Maggie Cardo & Klaus Bubeck will personalty greet you and attend to your every need. The Restaurant will astound you with their meals, value and service. The room that we were provided was quite spacious, well appointed and most comfortable! The attached bathroom appeared grand spanken, absolutely new and completed very nicely! The room was lit well, and had a wonderful view. The parking is spacious on the property. It was very quiet in the evening even though the restaurant is just right up stairs. Having the restaurant so close was like being home having our kitchen nearby. This hotel is on the grounds of Our Lady of Sonsoles. The grounds are intriguing, inviting, relaxing, historic and welcoming. This is an exceptional property! One of a kind! Most suited for those who are driving into Avila although there are walking paths that will take you there as well. There are Incredible sunsets in the evening with a great view of Avila. I can't say enough about this property and Maggie Cardo & Klaus Bubeck who run it! We were total charmed by our visit with them and would return without question!! I miss them already!!
