After multiple recommendations, I came here to eat with very high hopes, and while I didn't leave feeling disappointed, I wasn't happy either.
It began with me being seated away from other people, which I don't really mind, but reading other people's reviews, I felt "profiled" because I didn't wear a shirt or maybe it's because I don't speak Spanish, I don't know it felt weird. I came in with other groups, and while everybody was seated up top, and there was still space, I was placed downstairs "alone."
Promptly after I had been seated, I was asked what I wanted to drink without being given a menu, in the spurr of the moment I chose a Heineken beer because I saw they had it on tap. (FYI, their drink option was super nice upon further inspection). I was given a beer it just wasn't the beer that I had ordered. I had finished my drink before I was given the daily menu or any other menu for that matter.
Once I ordered, I got a "gift" from the kitchen, fried calamari, or squid. super good! My first dish of choice was the patatas bravas (brave potatos). Flavor wise, I've had a lot bette, and the size of the portion was super huge, I wish they would have told me that because I had ordered 3 things 😆. For 10 euro, it's definitely worth it, but it's way too big for a starter. The 2nd dish was taco. They were good! Flavor wise and portion size (1 order was 2 tacos for 12 euro). It wasn't my thing but that didn't make the dish bad or anything. The main course was the cod, which I think was poached. The fish was amazing! Not overcooked, not falling apart simply very well prepared. I found it a bit sad that the garnish of the fish was 2 different sauces, which kind of took away or overpowered the flavor of the fish. Sometimes less is more. My dessert was the cheese cake. I didn't like it. It was too heavy and dense for my taste. It wasn't a new york cheese cake so I believe a nice cheesecake which isnt the NY kinda should be more fluffy, light and creamy instead of "solid". It came with a fruity ice cream or sorbet which was really good.
The service was kind but not very helpful when It came to translating anything, nobody spoke any English whatsoever which is fine but maybe have an english menu? The speed of the meal took way too long. Sometimes I had to wait 20 minutes or more between courses.
I paid 62 euro for my meal. 4 courses and 4 drinks. I find it very pricey. I had to drive 30-40 minutes from granada and this place was more expensive when compared to places inside the city.
Do I recommend it? Yes. While there were things that didn't go so well the fish was definitely...
Read moreI've been to the place three times and their customer treatment left us with a stale after-taste. So we decided we won't go back anymore.
This has been recommended by a friend for getting a "menu del dia", for our lunch break for the 5 weeks we'd be working in the region. So we were ready to come here everyday and have a decently priced (in principle 10 euros) healthy lunch for 5 weeks.
The first day we went, we couldn't have the lunch deal because it was a weekend - fair enough. We discovered the general menu of the place and were surprised by the prices (count about 30 to 40 euros for a complete meal, including desert and drinks). The food looks good and there is definitely an effort made to the presentation. But the quality is really not worthing the price. We had a secreto iberico which was fatty and a fish plate which was tasteless.
We came back for a lunch menu another time and the waiter, who placed us in a separate room from other local guests (why? it didn't make any sense), said that he didn't know if today there would be a menu (what?). The chef came back 5 min later with the "menu del dia" and a lot of options to choose from. It was, however, priced at 12 euros and not 10 euros. The food was good and worth the price this time (salad + a small plate of fideua + coffee). But still, we had this feeling that we were not supposed to order the menu del dia and that they'd prefer us to pick from the regular pricey menu. Given that we're not locals, it felt really odd and unwelcoming.
We went another time and asked again for the menu del dia. Same thing happens: the waiter says that he doesn't know if there is one (?) and he comes back saying that they don't do it on July and August (we were mid-july). Again, we had this feeling that it wasn't honest, and on our way out, we saw a table of local people that seemed to have had the menu.
So all in all, it might be just suspicions we have but our instinct was clearly telling us that we were being fooled because we're not from the area. If ever we're wrong, then a greater effort should be put in communicating the menu and prices. It all felt shady and weird from the start.
As for the price of the general menu, it's definitely overpriced. There are but a handful of dishes below 19 euros. Even in expensive cities like Paris, London and Barcelona, you find tastier options for less money. The place is nice and big (although, they won't let you sit on the huge terrace at noon) and we had a fast service (although every time we came, it was almost empty so we cannot...
