Absolutely overrated and overpriced 'restaurant' Area Grande in A Guarda. Dirty floors and tables, inside and outside. Messy set up. Waiter had no clue about his dinner items. He even sent us away at 5 minutes to 20 hrs saying that the kitchen does not open till 20.30 hrs. The cook just arrived and scolded him so he came running to get us back (no apologies). Never brought the menu. Acted way too familiar. Then he served us a lenguado fish that was only half cooked so partially raw. The salad with it was no real salad, just some ordinary lettuce. No spices were used. The two different postres (deserts) were both tasteless. With a cheap wine and some coffee, the whole unprofessional offering cost us an obscene 81 Euro for 2 persons. Pure tourist trap robbery. Oh and the view as not even that great. There are better views from other parts...

One of the best restaurants in the area. Fantastic, value for money menu del dia, the set price menu during the week. Food is good with lots of freshly caught seafood options. Beer is always really fresh and tasty.Waiters are professional. Owner, Manolo knows how to run a good business. This place over the years has retained a loyal, local clientele and tourists alike. Perhaps some complacency has occurred as they seem to be expanding. The pilgrimage route el Camino de Santiago passes right by so it's a good place to stop for pilgrims to stop for a coffee or quick...

Visited for a quick meal before a long stretch on the Camino. The salad, soup, and non-alcoholuc beer served me well though it's probably most enjoyed by seafood lovers. I appreciated the service. A bicyclist on his way to Porto order a shrimp salad and other seafood. The portions seemed huge. As I was leaving he was halfway through the platter and looked to really be enjoying it.

The gin and tonic and clams were delicious, as was the mixed salad. Nice glass of white wine (Alberiño). The Galician blue lobster was good, but I wish I had splurged on the langosta roja. The waiter advised me langosta roja was better. Get the arroz con leche for dessert. Beautiful setting overlooking the sea. Staff very friendly and provided someone to assist me in English.
