If i could give 0 stars i would do it. We were going to visit the houses made in the caves and we wanted to eat something. If I searched for a restaurant nearby I saw this one with 1.7k revieuws with 4.3 star rating so we went for it. When we came up there everything seems fine, funny how it looked and what you should expect from a restaurant in a cave.
They came up with bread and aioli but we never asked for it... Than we ordered our food but they don't speak English so they did not even understand what we wanted. Even when i used google to translate it to spanish they were rude and not helpfull.
But oke after some struggeling we orderd. When the food came the meat was dry and not tasty at all. The greens were soggy and the fries were raw soft and full with fat. Really i thought it was more fat than potato if that was possible...
My girlfriend went to the toilet and there was no seat on it and no paper. There was piss everywhere!!
We ate the meat because we were very hungry but we left the rest on our plates and decided to pay and run off asap!
Inside while we wanted to pay we saw the cutlery drawer and i never have ever seen such a dirty one!! There was even a dead insect sticked on a knife (look at the photo) 🤮🤮🤮
After all they made us pay the bread and aioli we never asked for and what they just put on our table...
To cut a long story short. Don't go to this place!! Never runned out of a restaurant but this was not normal and very very bad! I do not understand why it has so many stars with revieuws... I will never go blindy again to a restaurant based on that! I hope i dont get sick tonight because that would ruin rhe rest of...
Read moreWe had a reservation and ended up showing up half an hour early. When asked if we can get some drinks on the terrace, the waiters replied almost shocked by my simple question with "It is closed" even though all the tables and chairs were there prepared. So we decided to sit inside and we were interested in an area which was more "animated" or with at least some people around so we told the waiter if it would be possible to have a table that type of room (which we were standing at the entrance) which he replied really fast that the room is only for multiple guests (we were only 2 people) and he ended up placing us in an empty room, full of flies due to the plates that were still standing on the tables as it can be seen in the photo. On top of that, after we were seated, we waited about 10 minutes for someone to bring us a menu and then, when one of the waiters finally came, we asked for an English menu as well for my friend and the waiter disappeared again for another 10 minutes. It is still unknown till today if the waiter came back with the English menu or if he is still searching for it as we left after a total of 20 minutes of waiting.
The moral of the story is that it seems that they pay more attention to big groups of people and don't care if they two people looking for a fine dining experience in their "cave".
If you have reached this far reading my rant, I recommend driving 3 more minutes up, past this place, as there is a better restaurant, both service, food, location and most...
Read moreWe enjoyed our lunch and felt that it was good value for money. It was a quirky setting to be eating in a cave restaurant and we certainly enjoyed that part of it. When we visited it was around 2pm on a Tuesday and it was quite quiet. The service was slower than we were used to, but we think this is because we were in rural Spain where there is more of a slower pace to eating out, rather than anything to do with the restaurant itself. The waiter was polite and I spoke with him in Spanish. I'm not 100% fluent but I can get by, and he was patient when I stumbled over a few of my words and also provided us with menus in English for my partner.
The food was hot and plentiful. I ordered steak and was given a really large steak and a plate full of chips. The steak was lovely and tender, and although some of it was cooked a bit too rare for my liking I just gave those bits to my partner who thoroughly enjoyed it, so that isn't something I would mark down for. The chips were slightly oily for my taste, but again that's probably a preference thing. My partner's order of the prawns were tasty and again a very large portion, so we felt like we were getting value for money. We didn't have dessert because we were too full.
Although I would rate high for the food, El Centro loses a star because of it's facilities. The toilets weren't very nice at all - barely any toilet paper and in need of a clean and a bit of a fix up. A bit of work in this area to fix things up and they'd have themselves a...
