Tasca Taguara A. Melo — Restaurant in Agulo

We came from Hong Kong and Australia and have eaten in mainland Spain previously. But the food and service here was exceptional, probably the best we have eaten so far in all of Spain. A really quaint restaurant with home cooked food from the heart.

We ordered the prawns, octopus with mango and beef tenderloin. Each dish was truly fantastic. The prawns were cooked perfectly, and the octopus and beef tenderloin (cooked medium) were tender with their sauces/dressing complimenting them well.

The service from the sole waiter/chef was also prompt and attentive.

We wanted to visit this place due to the excellent opinions. The restaurant was a real surprise. Super intimate, cosy and chummy with only 4 or five tables and a semi open kitchen with a real wood fire to cook food.

The owner is the cook, the bartender and waiter at the same time. Incredible and he never loses attention or his enthusiasm.

The food was just like the other people here have written. Excellent and all prepared with love!

I could have written this in Spanish but I hope that foreign tourist will give it a try. It is worth it!

We wanted to have a late lunch after a hike and a short road trip and came across this small restaurant. The people are really friendly and the food was very delicious. There is a language barrier though but nothing that a smartphone can't fix. They helped us really well with ordering even though English wasn't an option. I even thanked them afterwords via a google translate: "Lo mejor que hemos tenido en las islas canarias." Which should mean "The best we've had on the canarian islands" and I didn't lie. It was...
