Bar Restaurante Guayadeque — Restaurant in Agüimes

I don't know if I've yet to post a predominantly negative review, but I guess there's a 1st time for everything. Before I share my comments be aware that any reviews you see that include pictures of a large room with white linen tablecloths on the tables and a huge wall length painting of mountains is NOT the Bar Restaurante Guayadeque. I don't know where that place is, I just know it's not the place we ate in. My fiancee and I ate here exactly one week ago, 12/18/23. Unfortunately this was the worst meal we attempted to eat during our 6 week stay in the Canary Islands. The food was inedible. Maybe we just picked the worst 3 dishes they make?? I really can only speak for the garlic prawns, the chorizo and the French fries. The so called prawns were the size of my thumbnail, like the ones out of a can that are already cooked Even though they were swimming in garlic and oil they were tough to chew and overcooked. I quit after 2. The chorizo my fiancee got wasn't much better. Badly seasoned, not good at all. We fed one of them to the cute cats that abound and left the other on the plate when we walked out. The fries were inadequate. Obviously from two different batches, one old and the other undercooked, then thrown together. The bread was decent but they brought aioli that I didn't ask for and charged me for it. When we asked for butter instead, we were told they don't have butter. What restaurant on the planet doesn't have butter. Maybe she misunderstood, we asked in English because our translator app was unusable as there is ZERO data access in this part of the island. Anyway, they charged us for 3 chorizo instead of 2. They fixed the bill when I pointed it out. Honest mistake I'm sure, but it didn't help the experience. The food was downright awful. The service was adequate, if not somewhat indifferent. The atmosphere was interesting, I mean, you're eating in a cave. The cats were adorable. If you want to visit I suggest just...

Me siento muy bien después de haber estado en el restaurante Guayadeque, en el municipio de Agüimes, para disfrutar de este establecimiento tan emblemático en el cual me habían dicho tantas anécdotas en las cuales siempre fueron muy positivas.

Tengo que decir que estar en un establecimiento que está en una cueva y que el servicio es tan ejemplar, aunque sean 10 u 11 mesas, tres profesionales en la sala se nota y mucho cuando están bien compenetrados, cada uno siempre atento tanto a la sala de fuera como a la sala interior.

Tengo que mencionarlos Kilian, María y Domingo, nos ha encantado el trato que nos dieron a los nosotros, chapeau.

Aunque siempre me gusta leer los comentarios de todos, pero claro hay gusto para todos los paladares en este mundo, sin duda el sitio está muy bien, el trato de su personal que es soberbio.

La comida muy bien, pero lo que más nos encanto es que había un gatito por la zona que era muy tranquilo, un calicó que está bastante flaco, pero es muy cariñoso.

En cuestión a la limpieza por el covid 19, tengo que decir que la limpieza es sublime, siempre que alguna mesa salía, aparecía la señorita María a limpiarla para dejarla lista para las siguientes personas que fueran a habitar dicha mesa.

Bueno voy a pasar a la comida.

De entrantes;

Papas arrugadas Blancas con mojo aparte = 8.9 (para mi gusto le faltaba un pelín más de sal a las papas)

Queso semiduro = 9.2

Croquetas de pescado = 10 sin duda tenía muchas para el precio una maravilla.

Jamón serrano = 8.2 (no es un ibérico, pero tiene muy buen sabor)

Comida;

Ternera y guarnición papas fritas = 9.4 (las papas cortadas a mano sin sal)

Escalope de ternera y guarnición papas fritas = 9.6 (las papas cortadas a mano sin sal)

Postres;

Tarta de polvito uruguayo = 8.9

Tarta de queso y arándanos = 9.7 (Me encanto sin duda, pero quizás le falta un toque de más espesor al queso del medio)

Mus tres chocolates = 10 Muy rico, casi no da tiempo a sacar foto.

Chupito de orujo de hierbas y café.

Una cuenta de 50€ para todo lo que comimos entre los dos que fuimos.

Para mí merece la pena visitarlo un fin de semana, tengo que reconocer que el día que fuimos estaba siempre gente entrando y eso que está en medio del barranco.

Tengo que reconocer que los precios son bajos, pero más que un restaurante diría que es más un guachinche de estilo Tenerife.

De esos que siempre tienes ganas de volver, ya que los restaurantes no tienen esos precios y la comida esta buena de verdad, aunque siempre hay alguien que ve algo más el trato de los camareros, el ambiente del local, el lugar donde se encuentra y eso que en el medio se ve que hay una pequeña sala de una iglesia para el que quiera rezar.

El baño es pequeño, pero está muy limpio, quizás una reforma más adelante si, pero sinceramente si nos ponemos a pensar que cuando salimos de este establecimiento lo menos que tienes es ganas de ir al baño, solo hay ganas de salir a caminar para bajar la comida o lo que se...

I'm honestly bewildered by all the positive reviews this place has received. We decided to give it a try, but our experience was nothing short of a disaster.

The glasses were visibly dirty, and there were flies everywhere, buzzing around our table and making it impossible to relax.

The food was, at best, incredibly mediocre. We ordered a garlic shrimp, tomatoes, croquettes, and the grilled pork. The shrimp and croquettes were passable, but the grilled pork was the worst part of the meal—it was completely undercooked.

Overall, the lack of cleanliness combined with the poorly prepared main course made for a truly disappointing experience. I can't in good conscience recommend this...
