We bought a group of 8 up in our cars, you need a lot of trust in your car (and driver), but once up I had some of the best food I’ve ever had!! I can only imagine how rewarding this food is if you make the hike up on foot.
As a vegetarian I had the Sopas Mallorquinas. It was beautiful and amazing, I have a lot more to say about it but I don’t want to be self-indulgent. It wasn’t actually veggie as it did have small bits of the local sausage in it so I advise anyone to ask for the soup without this if they are vegetarian. This is not the staff fault as I should have asked and not assumed.
Staff are lovely! Our waiter was perfect and everyone stayed open after their close for us to finish our meals and eat dessert (I would never be this generous). Crema Catalena is now my favourite variation on a custardy dessert. If you think you don’t like creme caramels/brulee you should try this anyway. It’s not the same!
The rest of us chose meat. Lamb, rib-eye, chicken schnitzel etc. You realise that this restaurant is perfect for travellers when you see the portion sizes. Huge, delicious pieces of meat cut sustainably for less wastage I assume. When the plates first came we immediately thought of the takeaway boxes we’d need. We didn’t need any. Absolutely amazing flavour and quantity for the price.
The olive oil is their own brand, the all I ioli homemade. All is delicious. I...
Read moreThis is a fantastic little restaurant/stop off on the way to our after a trip up the mountain to Castle D'Alaro. We stopped for a late lunch/early dinner after a long hot afternoon clamber up to the top and back, the staff were very warm and friendly. You share tables, whenever there is available space and the food we ordered was brought out very quickly. We were immediately served bread, aoili and olives on arrival. We attempted to order a few different things but numerous were not available, which wasn't a problem. We settled on the lamb shoulder which was absolutely stunning, one of the best lamb dishes I've eaten, ever! Tasty, succulent and a really good portion. We also ordered padron peppers which were also lovely, in addition we ordered the goats cheese salad, which unfortunately was a little lacking. The goats cheese was very good but the salad needed a little sauce and maybe a selection of leaves other than just spinach. But overall worth a couple of drinks we spent nearly €60 and had a fantastic meal with really good portions. We'd certainly recommend and would...
Read moreI found this place purely by chance on a Google map search. Wanting a scenic drive with a lunch stop, this venue popped up. With great reviews, I added it to the itinerary, heading there for lunch. The road that leads up to it is a real challenge and not for the feint hearted. It's narrow, very bumpy and has many "full lock" hairpins. Walking for those that are fit isn't a problem and it'll take around an hour. My wife has emphysema so that's not possible and driving is the only option. The staff are really friendly, the food excellent and the views are simply stunning. Eat on the terrace or inside. We ate outside and were surrounded by Goats with young kids. We had the roast suckling pig and the roasted goat. Both were exceptional with the pig being my favourite. Both meals are hearty so no need to add anything as they come with potatoes and salad. The beer was ice cold and served with fresh bread, olives and home made alioli. You'll not be disappointed, honestly. It's well worth the...
