LA SOLANA: just past the JALON VALLEY. Go North on the N332 to Altea. Then just before you reach the town of Benissa, about 10 km past Calpe. Look for the signs to Jalon. On your left. Follow this road to Jalon. Now follow the signs to Jalon. Till you come to the Bodega Cooperativa. A big building your left. Park your car across the street. A visit to the Bodega is a must. Lots of different wines and free tasting. Buy some to bring home it can be a bit rough but cooled in the fridge before serving. Yes in the fridge red wine. (Philistine). I usually buy 5 litres. There is a terrific market there on Thursday. After your visit drive on the same road to the village of Alcalali. Where you will find some of the most economic Spanish culinary in the Costa. Look out for the signs to La Solana or Los Almendros. Though all restaurants around here are great value. Booking on Sunday for La Solana is usually a must.
