We ate on a Saturday lunchtime and sat in the terrace which has a wonderful view of the mountains. Friendly Spanish welcome. Website says open at 12.00. Yes, the restaurant is but the kitchen opens at 13.00. Odd! Had a drink in the bar. We shared a scrambled egg and asparagus starter which was OK but a bit salty. For mains I had wild boar and my wife had the pork skewer. My boar was beautifully tender and the sauce was great. The pork skewer was barbecued so nicely charred but big pieces of pork were raw in the centre. Both plates came with chips We had the baclava for postres and a chocolate tart. The baclava, two finger sized pieces was rather dry and not worth 4 euros. My chocolate tart looked to be a standard off the shelf offering, but was OK. The location is great and the service was attentive. Overall it was good but not exceptional. Would we go again?...

Again, context. It’s opposite where I have owned an apartment for nearly 15 years which we visited 2/3 times a year so are probably a bit biased. It’s my favourite restaurant in the area. We have got to know the family that run it and made to feel like part of their extended family - clearly if you visit just once you are unlikely to feel the same. It’s probably the most expensive place we eat in the area, excluding la Vinuela, but it’s the best in our view. However by English standards, it’s incredibly good value. When we were meat eaters , I would always at least once , have the grilled Rabbit. I’m still tempted but resist. 😢Home made deserts which is rare in Spain and just a range of food cooked with loving care. We are selling our apartment - so a message to the owners - thanks for 15 years of great food and taking...

Amazing experience at Venta La Perra!

Great food, nice atmosphere but most of all a superb service! The kind hostess was super friendly, everyone was patient with our 15-month-old and made us all have a fantastic time. The portions were also seasoned well, the patatas fritas were delicious and my Entrecot was gigantic! There's also a great view from tje terrace in the back (which can seat a lot of people). I can recommend this to everyone in the Alcaucin...

Nice authentic venta in Alcaucin. Big hall, fireplace, good selection of the dishes. I had two types of no meat stews and a salad (same ingridients as ensalada Malagueña, but it had a different name) - and it was all really good and tasted as homemade food. Recommend!
