We stayed overnight in this family-run casa rural escaping the Easter rains and were delighted with the stay, the service and the food! Very good value for money! It’s on the edge of Aldeanueva with a garden/terrace overlooking a rushing stream. The rooms aren’t large but decently furnished and nice and warm. Lucky as it was cold and rainy! The best is the restaurant!! Interesting, home cooked meals mixing traditional dishes with more modern ones. But all delicious! We had the orange and watercress salad, followed by the fish and apple balls the first evening, then came back for lunch the next day after a 4 hour walk up the hillside to the local waterfall. Then we had a delicious menu with prawn and avocado salad, marinated fillet steak with green peppers, followed by home made cheese cake. The owners are friendly and very helpful, keen for for you to enjoy your stay as much as possible. Aldeanueva is a still thriving agricultural village at the heart of the La Vera region, very well placed just near Cuacos de Yuste and Jarandilla. It’s a great starting point for beautiful walks into the Sierra, along the streams and of course the traditional paths taken by Carlos V. In the summer the natural swimming pool is just nearby. We’d recommend it as a welcoming and reasonably priced base for a few days break in this...
