A Welsh Dragon Roars in the Sleepy Andalucían Hills. Firstly, I want to state that this review is in no way biased because I am Welsh and that we stumbled on this gem run by two top lads, one of whom who also hails from my beloved country. This review is for the setting, the welcome, the ambiance, the culinary knowledge these lads have - and their willingness to share it, and of course, the incredible fare on offer. Firstly, the beers. Fantastic! and not the usual draught Cruzcampo & Alhambra, (which I do love) either. These lads clearly know their drinks. from a crisp pint of ‘Estrella Galicia’ to a dark, brooding lager from Madrid, (whose name I have forgotten again after sampling a few) which is a good advert in itself. I particularly liked a bottled German tipple called ‘Voll-Damm’ which was absolutely top drawer. ‘Iechyd da!’ Now, my partner and I are certainly not food critics, we rarely take photos of food and certainly don’t flaunt them on social media like needy children, but we do eat out a lot on our travels around Andalusia and love spanish food…and tapas. We love tapas! But the menu at this place was completely unexpected. Not only were there some wonderful local dishes, but also some Thai, Japanese and European. A KFC style coated chicken dish, and imminently available will be their take on the British staple of ‘Fresh Fish & Chips with peas or curry & bread and butter’ just in case anyone longs for a taste of home. Ah, but there was nothing frozen here, everything is freshly prepared & cooked to order, and every effort was put into preparation of these wonderful dishes. I ordered the curry of the week, which was a ‘Yellow Thai Curry’ and it was truly sublime. Joe ordered the house ‘Prawn Tacos’. All the seafood here is fresh in the morning and is substantial in both size and portion. After loosening my belt (and another beer) we moved on to a couple of desserts. Starting with a ‘White Chocolate Cheesecake’, so delicately whipped that it’s lightness is hard to describe, and the Cookies with Ice Cream’, a luxurious, guilty pleasure of a dish, and perhaps the final flourish that left us both feeling we’d just experienced something new in our years of travelling. We returned again this evening to conquer the highly recommended ‘Tempura Prawns’, which were huge and tasted absolutely incredible. I plumped for the chef’s signature ‘Dali Burger’, a behemoth of a patty loaded with bacon, cheese, salad & special sauce, which came with the most superb chips imaginable. Then we rounded it off with the generously sized ‘Sticky Toffee Pudding’ with soft ice cream. Tick! Another culinary triumph. I really want to stress again at this point that this wasn’t so much just eating as ‘experiencing’ the food, something which my partner and myself had not really considered before. The various flavours, aromas and tastes, all individual in themselves, come together to be something so much greater than the sum of their parts. The prices are excellent too but don’t really factor into the equation when weighed against the evening itself. Those few hours (on both occasions) were simply priceless. Sadly, we discovered this little Shangri-La too late in our trip, and while there were so many other dishes on the menu that we’d like to have tried, our time in Almedinilla was at an end and the valleys were calling us home. However, we will most definitely return, and you should too. You won’t be disappointed. Seriously. Pay these lads a visit and experience an unforgettable evening of dining. Diolch, boys! Cymru am byth.

¡Guau! Wow! This gastropub is an unexpected place, nestled in the beautiful village of Almedinilla, that you must visit. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the wonderful hosts. The terrace is a very pleasant and relaxing space with soft lighting. It was evident that the hosts shared a passion and love for their food. We choose the shrimp tempura as a starter, the batter was light and delicious. Afterwards, we enjoyed the Caribbean curry, a delight with the perfect combination of flavors. What makes it even more special is that you can choose your own ingredients. My husband ordered the stacked chicken burger, which came with salad, bacon, cheese, and BBQ sauce. Of course, we had to finish with the white chocolate cheesecake and bourbon ice cream, which did not disappoint. While we enjoyed the atmosphere, we were given free shots of Baileys and mango tequila. A perfect end to a very pleasant evening. We will definitely be returning very soon.

Amazing food, lovely prawn cocktail, tomatoes with the charcoaled salt were really nice and the new pork and chicken burger (served without a bun due to Coeliac) was fantastic as was the triple cooked fries! I also tried some of my partners curry which was also gluten free and that was really good too, very flavourful. Matt and Andy talked us through the menu and what they would recommend and also gave us some recommendations for restaurants when we visit Granada. Overall brilliant experience would highly recommend.

We sat outside in the evening and the atmosphere was lovely, I had as Estrella Damm to drink and some restaurants can’t seem to get draught lager right but this was perfect and ice cold, I had the Gambas tempura for a starter which was delicious and I was surprised how much was on the plate for the price, for the main I had the yellow Thai curry, I would definitely recommend it, it was outstanding. My wife didn’t get a starter but had the fish & chips for main course and said it was cooked perfectly and there wasn’t any left for me to try! Both meals also came out at the same time. We had a lovely evening and the service was fab. Very much looking forward...
