Voramar — Restaurant in Arenys de Mar

I have two experiences with this restaurant one bad and one even worse. First we went for lunch , the food is not bad but the service is awful . The waiters are not kind , they serve you with bored face. We were waiting so long without even asking what we want to drink . Then I asked for ice and lemon since our water was warm , but they never brought it. The second one is even more sad . The restaurant is right in front of the beach . I was staying at the beach was around 40 degrees and I was really thirsty so I decided to go to buy a water . Since I was in bikini I didn’t want to be uneducated so I didn’t enter to the restaurant I was waiting until someone came to the entrance and I asked for a water . The waitress said they are out of cold water they have only natural one , but there is a beach bar so I can go there . First it looked like was not true she just didn’t want to give it to me but even if it’s true the bar is around 1 km far away , second she didn’t even asked me if I want the not cold water ( I would take it because I was really thirsty) third she could offer a ice cube with it but you could see that she didn’t want to help . I don’t understand how can you leave someone in the middle of the summer in 40 degrees in a restaurant when they asking you for a water . I think it’s even a law to give a water for free from the sink . Anyway I would suggest to the blond lady to go to work with some material and not with people. The food was decent but the owner doesn't seem to understand hospitality.

The waiter and waitresses were very friendly and the owner/manager after an initial courtesy heard my wife (rightfully) commenting on the fried prawns that were actually battered and she did not want them that way. When my wife proceeded to order another starter saying she was happy to pay for it the owner took it to heart, instead of asking whether everything was in order like any decent stablishment would. She didn't allow us to finish the starter and quite rudely dumped the second dishes on the table, rushing in to it.

The food was decent but nothing amazing. In the end when we asked for the bill the same lady threw it at the table and walked way.

A very bad experience on a day we were really looking forward to enjoying a lunch out. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone around the area. You're better off eating at one of the kiosks...

We were wandering the area in hope of finding a small place for lunch, with outside seating where we could enjoy some interesting and good seafoods, but that could accommodate our dog - that can be quite reactive to other animals. Voramar was perfect! We sat at the back of the outside terrace, away from the quiet seafront road, which is lovely and shaded. We eat calamari meatballs for the first time which were well worth trying, and white fish cooked on the bone. Staff were friendly and efficient. We shared chocolate truffles for desert, which were not too rich and finished off the meal well with some coffees.
