What a find! Staying in Basque country for 3 nights and having been to Bilbao, San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz we were looking for a nice place to have a “long lunch” today. We did not have a reservation (not unusual at home but I think perhaps not the convention here). They kindly made room for us and we are so glad. Hands down the best meal of local cuisine we have had on our trip so far. We had the menu of the day (32 EUR pp), every course was absolutely delicious as was the wine we had (both red and white across the table). Dishes we had included: beef cheek lasagna, zucchini stuffed with seafood and cod, orzo with mushroom and bacon, confit duck, grilled squid, beef cheek, secret pork and then cheesecake and rice pudding for dessert.

Our thanks to the staff, who were very helpful (especially as we do not speak Spanish, we very much appreciated the help of the team member who spoke English). I appreciate that they were happy to accommodate my request to serve my main without the mushrooms. I suspect not many international tourists find their way to this restaurant, but I would say it is more than worth it to seek it out and make the trip. Fuimos un poco sin saber exactamente que nos íbamos a encontrar y la sorpresa empezó desde el mismo momento en que vimos el emplazamiento de este precioso caserío, una vistas y una tranquilidad fantásticas. En el momento en que traspasamos la puerta, la atmósfera resultó de lo más agradable. Un servicio educado, servicial y muy agradable, la dueña encantadora. Tomamos unos calamares de calidad, con un rebozado muy bueno. Alcachofas confitadas con Chantilly de Foie. Foie mi CUIT. Falso risotto de vieiras y gambas. Raviolis de cigala y gambas. De segundos. Besugo a la parrilla para 2 personas. Kokotxas rebozadas y Solomillo con patatas fritas de verdad. No puedo decir absolutamente nada negativo de ningún plato. Pero llegaron los postres. Tarta de queso con plátano al ron. Torrijas de brioche. Y un sorprendente "Kinder bueno". Después de tomar los postres intenté secuestrar al cocinero para llevármelo a casa, lastimosamente no lo conseguí. Volveremos con las abuelas y terminaremos tomando el café en esa preciosa...

Impresionante caserío vasco muy bien decorado y adaptado para la restauración. Un chorizo frito detalle de la casa. Ya para compartir unas anchoas en una piscina de aceite riquísimo, unas rabas a la romana con una mayonesa especial y una ensalada de tomate, pimiento y ventresca servida individual para cada comensal excelente. Para rematar un txuletón perfectamente brasesdo con patatas fritas y los postres todos caseros con buenas raciones y a cual mejor. Unas trufas con los cafés otro detalle a agradecer. Comimos en un salón con tres mesas incluida la nuestra que hizo que la comida fuera aún más entrañable. Para Maider su propietaria y jefa de sala y también somelier nos faltan palabras para definir su profesionalidad, amabilidad y atenciones. Fantastic food, good selection wines, generous portions, tables well spaced out in a modern interior of a beautiful old house at a good price! Best to reserve as it is busy!!
