As a pilgrim on the Camino, I was coming off a 26.3km walk to Ribadiso. This restaurant looked like a nice place to grab dinner after a long day. They have a beautiful location. However, my friends and I quickly found the looks to be deceiving. It started with the servers. They all acted like they didn’t want to be there. They would quickly turn their back and walk away from you if you needed to ask anything. We also waited a long time to get all our food and drinks. We were left alone so long that the servers would constantly ask how many of each thing we needed for the table. When it came to the food, my friends were told they were out of ingredients for a salad and received plates of chopped up tomatoes and onions in place of it….. my friends fish dish was raw when she received it….a waiter was also seen putting his whole hand in an olive jar to get them out to serve to a table. Our whole time there we quickly noticed every table having issues with service and having food sent back. This is the only place to eat in Ribadiso. If you’re walking as a piligrim, I would advise you try and push to the next village or Arzúa for a better...
Read moreVery rude staff. Both the waitress and support serving staff were EXTREMELY RUDE and CHILDISH. We sat down at a table to order a meal, and were left sitting, while people who came after us were attended to. When we broached this with the waitress, she became verbally abusive, telling us that, after asking us if we were walking on the Camino de Santiago walk. Then she she said we needed to chill out, and go back to rest up. She followed by telling my wife to chill out. She did this very loudly, too. As we had, by then, ordered our meal, we decided to wait it out. When the food was finally brought, both our plates came out cold, and we sent then back to be heated. They came back totally dried out. We asked to speak with a manager, but by now the situation was totally non-salvageable. We ate what we could (not much), snd fed the dried out remain to a local cat, who took up residency below our table. The manager was non-commital, and we are unaware of resolution to a very unnerving episode. Avoid at all costs!!! Eat here...
Read moreI dined at Meson Ribadiso on one stop in my Camino, and was very satisfied.
I had the set menu, from which there was a choice of dishes: I had lentil soup as a starter, fish as main course, and tarta de Santiago for dessert. I chose water to drink, but the menu includes wine or other beverages in case you want to go for them, at no extra cost.
All the dishes were delicious, but the fish was absolutely stellar, so I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The service was also good, I can see that some previous reviewers seem to have had a bad experience, but that was definitely not the case for me. The multi-language menu helped me in my choice (I spoke only very basic Spanish), and the person serving me (who seemed to be the manager) was friendly and efficient.
It was a nice experience for me at the end of a long walking day, so I would definitely recommend...
