Overall Rating: 5/5
Food: 5/5 The culinary journey at Can Travi Nou was nothing short of exemplary. The menu, leaning heavily into authentic Catalonian flavors, did not disappoint:
Cazuela de almejas abiertas: A solid 4/5, this dish was a symphony of textures and flavors, though it left a tad more to be desired compared to the other offerings.
Dados salmón marinado: This dish deserves every bit of its 5/5 rating. Exceptionally fresh, meaty, and perfectly seasoned, it was a highlight of the evening.
Caracoles: Venturing into unfamiliar territory, the snails were a delightful surprise. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, they made for an adventurous yet highly satisfying choice.
Gazpacho de fresa y tomate con sorbete de aceite: An intriguing combination that delivered in every sense. The interplay between the strawberry and tomato was beautifully complemented by the oil sorbet, making for a refreshing palate cleanser.
Service: 5/5 Service at Can Travi Nou was impeccable. The staff demonstrated a keen understanding of the menu, making suggestions and ensuring that every detail of the dining experience was catered to with precision.
Atmosphere: 4/5 The restaurant's setting, with its rustic charm and authentic Barcelona vibe, creates a serene ambiance. However, the presence of mosquitoes did slightly mar the overall experience. Nevertheless, it's a small blemish on an otherwise exquisite evening.
Conclusion: As someone who frequents Barcelona for work, I've had my fair share of dining experiences in the city. Can Travi Nou stands out not only as the best fish restaurant but also as a genuine hidden gem. Its combination of delectable dishes, top-notch service, and authentic atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone in the city. If you're seeking an unforgettable culinary journey, this place should be at the top...
Read moreDisappointment! First and last time. We were looking forward to having a calcots in what seems a treditional venue. The reservation was confirmed over the phone with a lady who asked if we are having calcotada and it was a yes. Yet when we arrived at the table and asked to order calcots we got a reaction from one waiter as if we ordered Sushi and another waiter just walked away from the table after hearing English. We understood something went wrong and started looking at the menu when an English speaking lady showed up at the table to explain again and asked (again) if we reserved calcots, if we reserved "menu" and explained the procese which made it worse. we were already there and very hungry otherwise we would leave the restaurant. We had calcots many times before and never had that awkward feeling the stuff managed to create. we were offered calcots that would be make "especially" but at that point we were not interested. food wise it was equally disappointing a very salty paella that we hardly touched and no one asked why, a burger served on top of fries (frosen ones like you get in a fast food chain) and no bun possibly the catalan way to ruin a burger plate, would expect a restaurant to make their own chips patatas, even bravas would work better. The coffee was nice and the place itself is perfect if you are having an open house visit but not for a dinner. this place is the perfect example of a nice wrap but nothing in it. Huge...
Read moreExcellent food and service. We went there for a wedding and the staff were friendly. The food was very good, although some dishes could do with less salt. For instance, I recommend the lobster with chickpeas, but the chickpeas were quite salty. If you like salty like me it may be OK, but you’ll need to order some water to go with it. I also recommend the strawberry 🍓 gazpacho.
We were slightly confused with the starters and the entrées. We ordered some starters to share, and then one entrée and one main dish each, but it ended up being too much. I recommend you either share the entrées as well, or you skip them altogether. They are very feeling. For instance, if you check the photo of the tuna salad you can see it comes with a couple of tuna steaks! 😮 If you can’t finish a dish, you can ask for it to take away, though. At least the food won’t go to waste.
All the meat dishes were also very good. I usually eat a lot of fish while on Barcelona & the Mediterranean coast in general, but it’s worth trying out some of the meat in here as well.
If you come by car, please note that the number of parking spaces inside the restaurant is very limited and they can’t reserve you a space. There are some places to park outside, but they are mostly green areas, which are reserved for locals and they aren’t free, except for weekends, when they are free & open...
