We had high hopes for our visit to Restaurant Ses Vinyes, particularly given the charm of the adjoining hotel which we have stayed at previously.
Unfortunately, our dining experience fell well short of expectations from the moment we arrived. We were greeted with an unwelcoming and curt reception, then led to a back corner of the restaurant with little regard for comfort or hospitality. Bread was provided at the table, but no butter or olive oil accompanied it. It took two follow-ups before this was rectified—and for context, each small portion of bread is charged at €2.50, which feels excessive given the lack of basic accompaniments. For starters, we ordered the oysters and the garlic shrimp. While the oysters were fresh and enjoyable, the garlic shrimp were underwhelming—lacking in flavor and with a soggy texture that suggested poor preparation. The main courses were equally disappointing. The cod was passable but uninspired. More concerning was the goat, which was bland and devoid of seasoning. We returned it to the kitchen after a few bites. The response to this was the most troubling part of the evening: our concerns were met with condescension and rudeness from a male waiter, who made repeated attempts to pressure us into paying for the subpar dish. Although it was eventually removed from the bill, the waiter continued to address us in a patronizing tone, referring to us by our surname in a manner that felt deliberately disrespectful. It's a shame, as the setting offers real potential, but the service and food fell far below the standard one would expect at this price point. Regrettably, we cannot recommend Restaurant Ses Vinyes and will not...
Read moreEverything about this restaurant deserves 5 stars, from the food/wine to the service. Even the (excellent) chef came by the table to ask if we enjoyed our meal! Back to the service, each and every person who tended to our table was attentive, extremely polite, professional and friendly and without being invasive. We have a lot to learn from them in France! We also stayed in the adjoining hotel of same name. Service equally professional and the buffet breakfast was just fantastic! A really wonderful place to discover and we highly recommend it and will most definitely come back for a longer stay...
