Restaurante “El Cañizo de Carmen” — Restaurant in Bonete

We had lunch in the sun at this fab bar, when travelling from Madrid to Alicante. We were greeted by the owner, Carmen, who was friendly and knowledgeable about vegan food. As soon as we told her we were vegan, she started recommending dishes.

We had a salad to start, which had lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olives, cucumber, sweetcorn, avocado. Followed by grilled vegetables (aubergines,  courgettes, onions & tomatoes) and home-made French fries, which came with a really tasty vegan pesto sauce that was made with pistachios.

We will definitely return when in the area.

A real surprise, stop off on the way back from Albacete, small village but what a great cafe bar, menu del dia was very good, good selection well cooked and service would shame many restaurants....

El descubrimiento de Bonete. Llevo 15 años viajando de Madrid a Alicante varias veces al año y es la primera vez que paro en este pequeño pueblo de Albacete a 2 min del devio de la A31. Menuda sorpresa. Cenamos en una mesita en la plaza. El servicio muy amable y cercano y la comida buenisima. Gambas al anillo, croquetas de cocido increíbles, caracoles pequeñitos exquisitos.
