We attended a wedding reception here, and from a gastronomic standpoint, the experience was nothing short of outstanding. The aperitif service was masterfully planned, with at least seven distinct stations strategically placed to avoid congestion: gildas at the bar, perfectly chilled beer, a dedicated wine station, an oyster station, a seafood station offering zamburiñas and razor clams, a ham carving station, and a fideuà food truck. Every offering was of impeccable quality. Complementing these were circulating trays of hot canapés, including the much-acclaimed croquettes. Wines such as Muga and Terras Gauda were simply sublime.

The seated menu began with a scallop paired with green asparagus, Iberian ham, and an emulsion based on its own fumet — a refined opening that showcased both restraint and depth of flavor. This was followed by grilled turbot with almond sauce and crispy artichokes, prepared with precise timing to preserve both texture and aroma. A gin and tonic sorbet served as an intermezzo, balancing acidity and sweetness with remarkable elegance. The main course featured paletilla de cabrito culé prepared in two distinct cooking methods alongside patatas panadera — a necessary approach given the nature of the meat, which rewarded patience with tenderness and rich flavor.

Dessert arrived as a dark chocolate pañuelo filled with yogurt and red berries, accompanied by pistachio ice cream — a textural and aromatic finale that was both visually striking and palate-cleansing.

On the downside, the absence of Wi-Fi was a missed opportunity, particularly for international guests wishing to share such memorable moments in real time. Additionally, a service mishap resulted in a splash of greasy sauce on my suit jacket; while the staff were profusely apologetic and prompt in cleaning it, the incident left a slightly bittersweet note, especially as it was a brand-new suit.

Overall, Carpas Chef Nino delivers a masterclass in large-scale event gastronomy — with finesse, organization, and a clear dedication to...
